Sometimes it’s the little things that make a board feel extra special. ❤️

The drizzle of honey... a sprig of fresh rosemary... edible flowers... a beautiful meat rose... a special cheese paired with just the right preserve... even the way something is folded, stacked, or tucked into just the right spot.

Those are the parts I love. 🥰

When I create a board, I’m not just thinking about what goes on it. I’m thinking about the colors, textures, flavors, little surprises, and all those tiny details that bring the whole thing together.

Because around here... saying “it’s just meat and cheese” might be fighting words. 😂🧀

Meet the Coastal Smoked Salmon Board. 🤍

This one has officially earned a spot on the CC’S CHARCUTERIE CREATIONS menu, and I think it may be one of my favorites yet.

Smoked salmon rosettes surround a creamy chive and herb center, then everything is filled in with fresh cucumber, radishes, tomatoes, red onion, lemon, capers, pickled onions, olives, crackers, fresh dill, and all those little details that make a board feel extra special.

It’s fresh, colorful, a little unexpected, and perfect for brunches, showers, girls’ gatherings, book clubs, corporate events, or anyone who loves a beautiful savory spread.

This one was created for a ladies’ crafting party, and I absolutely loved how fresh and different it felt on the table.

Office birthdays deserve better than a grocery store cake in the break room. 😂🎉

This order was created for a sweet office birthday surprise... individually packed charcuterie boxes, each filled with cheeses, meats, fresh fruit, crackers, nuts, chocolates, and TWO macarons for a little something extra. ❤️

I love orders like this because celebrating someone doesn't always have to be a huge event.

Sometimes it's simply surprising them at work and turning an ordinary day at the office into something that feels a little more special. 🧀🍓

✨️ Most Fridays I use this space to shine a light on another small business here in Middle Tennessee, but this week I'm taking Local Love Friday down to Rainbow City, Alabama... because this one is pretty special to me.

Misioh Poodles is my dad and stepmom's family business, where they raise Toy Poodles... and it also happens to be where CC'S newest little “employee” came from. 😂🐩

If you've been following along lately, you've probably already met Lainey, my tiny Chief Cuteness Officer who has apparently decided her job description includes laying between me and my computer while I'm trying to work. 😂❤️

Lainey came from Misioh Poodles, so I've gotten to see firsthand just how much love goes into these puppies.

But one of my favorite things about Misioh is actually the story behind the name.

MISIOH stands for “Minnie Is Still In Our Hearts.”

Minnie was my Nanny, and my dad chose the name as a way to honor his mom and keep her memory woven into something he loves. ❤️

Their journey with raising dogs actually started by helping a friend who could no longer care for hers. They opened their home to them, discovered how much they loved raising dogs and puppies, and what began as helping someone else eventually grew into something they truly enjoy.

And now I have one of those little puppies curled up in my own home. 🥹❤️

So this week's Local Love Friday is a little more personal than usual.

If you're in Alabama or have friends or family near Rainbow City who have been looking for a Toy Poodle, go show Misioh Poodles some love and tell them CC sent you. 🐩❤️

I read something recently about comparison that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about.

And while I don’t think we can look at someone else’s life and assume we know what God is doing in it, it made me realize just how dangerous comparison really can be.

Because comparison is almost always based on what we can see.

We see someone else’s marriage, business, home, family, success, opportunities, friendships, finances... and then compare their visible moment to the parts of our own story that still feel unfinished.

But we have absolutely no idea what God is doing behind the scenes.

We don’t know what something cost them.
We don’t know what they’re struggling with privately.
We don’t know what God is protecting us from.
And we certainly don’t know what He is preparing us for.

Scripture actually gives us a moment like this with Peter.

In John 21, Jesus is talking to Peter about his life and his calling. Peter looks over at John and basically asks:

“Lord, what about him?”

And I LOVE Jesus’ response.

“What is that to you? You must follow me.”
John 21:22

Whew. ❤️

How many times do we do exactly what Peter did?

But God... what about her?

Why did she get the opportunity?
Why is their business growing faster?
Why did they find their person?
Why did their prayer get answered?
Why does their life seem to be moving forward while mine feels stuck?

And maybe sometimes God’s answer is simply:

Stop looking sideways. Follow Me.

Their assignment isn’t yours.
Their timing isn’t yours.
Their blessings aren’t evidence that God has forgotten you.
And someone else’s progress doesn’t mean you’re behind.

God never asked us to keep pace with somebody else’s story.

He asked us to be faithful with ours.

And I need that reminder too.

Because comparison can make us so busy looking at what God is doing for somebody else that we completely miss what He’s doing right in front of us.

Maybe the season you’re tempted to rush through is growing something in you that you’ll need later.

Maybe the closed door you’re comparing to someone else’s open one is protection.

Maybe God is answering your prayer differently than you expected.

Or maybe it’s simply not time yet.

We don’t always get to know.

But we do get to decide where we’re going to keep our eyes.

So today I’m reminding myself:

I don’t need her timeline.
I don’t need his assignment.
I don’t need their story.

I want what God has for me, in the way He has it for me, at the time He knows I’m ready for it.

And until then...

What is that to me? I have Jesus to follow. ❤️

Father,

Forgive us for the times we’ve been so busy looking at someone else’s life that we’ve stopped noticing what You’re doing in ours.

Help us celebrate other people’s blessings without questioning our own. When comparison tells us we’re behind, forgotten, or somehow less than, remind us that You don’t write identical stories.

Give us the faith to trust Your timing, the wisdom to recognize Your direction, and the discipline to keep our eyes on You instead of everyone around us.

Help us faithfully walk the road You’ve placed in front of us and trust You with everything we can’t see yet.

In Jesus’ name, Amen. ❤️
