We are heartbroken to make this announcement.
The Retro Diner will not be reopening. Many of you watched our episode of Restaurant Impossible and are aware that we have had financials issues in the past. When Restaurant Impossible visited us, we were given the tools to succeed. We were finally in a position where we could afford to pay off much of our debt. We were hopeful for the future, but then this epidemic occurred. We had been making payments on our back taxes, expecting to be caught up by the end of summer, but once the quarentine began, we were unable to make them. The State of Indiana decided to move forward with seizing property, even during this national crisis. We held on for a miracle, but we were not able to recieve any of the grants. We hate that this has occured, but there is no way for us to move forward at this point. That being said, our head cook has decided to use his savings and has purchased the old Byrd Landing and is in the process of opening a new Restaurant. No opening date just yet, but hopefully this summer. His willingness to open his own restaurant will allow for several (if not all) of our previous employees to get back to work. We wish him the best of luck on this endeavor. We will miss all of our loyal customers, and hope to see you around.

We decided with very heavy hearts that until the government restrictions are over we will not be open. Even with the amazing support of our customers, both new and old, our daily overhead is just too high. Please continue to support the other local businesses who are fighting to stay open. Running a restaurant is expensive, and profit margins are low. They need your support now more than ever. You have been so good to us Muncie. We hope that we see you all once this is over.

We will be closed Sunday Mar 22nd. It is just the two of us working right now, and we have opted for a day of rest. We will decide tomorrow as a family how we would like to move forward during this crisis. Thank you again Muncie for being so generous and supportive of your local small businesses.

We have a little bit of hamburger. They couldn't deliver much! It is still 3.50 per pound, with a limit of 2 lbs. We would like to offer more, but it's all we received.
We also received our distributors last box of single roll toilet paper. They are .75 each. I know it seems expensive, but I promise you we are selling items as cheaply as possible.

Beef and Noodles with 2 sides

We also have groceries.
$3.00 for 30 eggs (1 per person)
$5.00 for a pound of bacon (2 per person)
Need anything else, just ask! No one should have to go without because the groceries can't stay stocked!
We are very low on bacon, and out of hamburger until tomorrow. I will update when it comes in.
