Had a little surprise party today from some of the most amazing people ! I was so touched. You all have NO idea how much I will miss you all! You have got me through the worst year of my life. If I didn’t have you all to talk to and vent to… I would be in a padded cell. The cake and cards and gifts meant more to me than you’ll ever know! I have treasured every moment I’ve have spent with you all … loved every milestone with you and your kids and grandchildren! You’re kids became my kids! I truly love them with all my heart! Please continue to share stories and pictures of them! I have cried more the last couple weeks than EVER! Thank you all for making Merks… we could not have done it without you! I hope everyone has special moments and memories of our time at the airport… I love you all’ ❤️

Thank you to the Charlie Richmond family for trusting Merks to do their send off dinner to Big Charlie tonight! It was an honor to pay our last respects to such an honorary Merk!! We all loved him here. We served his favorite meal to all! Spaghetti and meatballs!! Every Wednesday! Sorry about the strawberry shakes… couldn’t pull that one off. Charlie I knew and felt your love everytime I saw you! You gave me such a rough time… but I gave it right back out of love. Dropping all those pennies… shame on you!! I have been and will forever miss you. Gotta love a guy who makes you smile… you were that guy.

With a very heavy heart I must announce that December 1st will be the last day Merks Family Dining will be open. Muncie Aviation has opted to not renew our lease. We asked to stay open through Christmas but were shot down.
I must say I have the best memories of our last 7 1/2 years at the airport! We have met the best of Muncie ! We moved to Muncie in 2006… really didn’t know many people but made it our home. Now it takes me 2 hours to get through Meijers to shop cuz we run into so many we know! We just want to thank everyone for making our restaurant your Togo place! We have made the best of friends to people that came everyday to eat and chit chat! It has been the most trying 7 1/2 years of my life! So much loss and tragedy… but if I didn’t have all of you to lean and learn from I would be in a padded cell! You all were the reason I got up in the morning!! I knew I had to be there! Where on earth would Micheal and Bill have breakfast? Where would Ralph take Doc for lunch? My list is endless… we have had the most loyal and loving friendships over the years. And my kiddos that I have watched and loved since birth!! I truly enjoy every single hug I get from them. I will miss that the most! Olivia.. tristian and his sister that I can’t remember her name! To Adele and Hueston! Bethany and Harlon…may and Madden! Mia… and her sister . The six kids the reason kids… I can go on and on’ you all have been everything to me’ I am far away from my own grandchildren so you fill my void! Caleb… you are so special! All the Robbins kids!!! Darrell.. always loved your son! My Elyza… I will miss you with all my ❤️ and hope I will continue to stay in touch’ I have had a lot of employees over the years … some great and some not so. Thanks for making merks … Merks! I have had some awesome crews!!! We have had some devastating circumstances… Jess and Cassie have had some devastating effects! I miss them everyday’ Kenzie and Jess have stepped up to the plate and gave it their all. Thank you so much for always having my back! We were a great team during COVID and I thank you with all my heart💕 we had yet another blow after my two oldest children died. Kenzie lost her BF DIED of a blood clot to his heart! But we remaine close and connected and lean on each other a lot. Her and Jess will be my forever girls!

Merks suffered another tragedy yesterday… please keep our Kenzie in your thoughts and prayers… her boyfriend of 5 years passed away. They feel he had a blood clot break up and travel to his heart. Elijah worked at Merks awhile back and will be gravely missed. We are such a village here. Family… Hallee came in early and Jess came in on a scheduled day off. Please understand that everyone is doing whatever it takes! We have new girls that are still learning and training. Please try to be patient. Tim is back but on limited capacity. I am trying my best to keep it all together even after losing two of my own children.! I had a new server in tears today because customers were being rude and impatient. In this uncertain world… just be kind ! We are taking up a collection for Elijah’s funeral. Please come by and give what you can… much appreciated!
