I checked out the old Indian Lodge Hotel in the Davis Mountains while we were in Texas two weeks ago and thought of what a cool place it would be to serve barbecue.

Well, that's a wrap on Old Settlers!!!
We're all about to keel over in this picture, but we had a GREAT weekend: our best ever at Old Settlers, which is saying a lot. Thanks to everyone who helped out, stopped by for food, drinks, and/or even an just interesting chat, and thanks to all of my old students and the other people I care about for coming over and saying hello! ❤️👊

It's OLD SETTLERS and we are OPEN!
11AM- MIDNIGHT both FRIDAY and SATURDAY
We've got everything, friends, and plenty of it.
Brisket, burnt ends, smoked chicken, pulled pork, and all the house-made sides and sauces.
We've also got a large selection of fine sipping whiskies and rowdy shooting whiskies, plus ice cold beer and High Noon vodka seltzers.
We've even got shots of espresso on order to wake you up! ☕️
It's been a great time all day and night the last two years we've done this, and we're planning on a repeat.
Come hang out with us and grab a bite to eat!

When it's got the color I want!
Just FYI for my new-to-barbecue folks, this is what six hours of smoke sinking into dry-rubbed meat looks like. This brisket is not "burnt" and actually has a few more hours to cook before it's done!
The smoky coating you see here is all good flavor. 😁
