Edwardsville Pierogi Festival Returns This Weekend for Two Days of Food, Music and Family Fun

EDWARDSVILLE, PA — One of Luzerne County most popular summer traditions is set to return this weekend as the 12th Annual Edwardsville Pierogi Festival takes over John Hopkins Memorial Park on Friday, June 12, and Saturday, June 13. Organizers are expecting thousands of visitors for two days filled with food, entertainment, local vendors, rides, and community celebration.

Hosted by the Edwardsville Hometown Committee, the festival began in 2014 and has grown into a regional attraction celebrating Northeastern Pennsylvania's rich Polish heritage and the area's love for the iconic pierogi. The committee says the event was created to improve quality of life in the borough through family-friendly community events and has become one of the organization's signature annual gatherings.

This year's festival will feature more than 80 food, craft, and merchandise vendors, along with carnival rides, games, pony rides, a petting zoo, live entertainment, and plenty of traditional festival favorites. Visitors can expect everything from pierogies and kielbasa to pizza, smoked specialties, desserts, and other local fare.

Festival hours are scheduled for Friday from noon until 10 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Organizers have also announced a fireworks display at dusk on Friday evening.

Several of the festival's most anticipated events return on Saturday, including:

The Pierogi Parade at 11 a.m.

The Great Pierogi Cookoff at 2 p.m.

Live music and entertainment throughout the day

Family activities and attractions for all ages

According to DiscoverNEPA, this year's entertainment lineup is expected to feature performances by local and regional bands throughout both days of the festival, helping make the event a summer kickoff tradition for many Wyoming Valley families.

The festival also coincides with broader celebrations marking America's 250th anniversary, adding an extra layer of community pride to this year's event.

Admission is free, and organizers encourage residents and visitors alike to come out and support local businesses, community organizations, and the volunteers who help make the event possible each year.

For many in Luzerne County, the Edwardsville Pierogi Festival has become more than just a food festival. It is a celebration of local heritage, community spirit, and the traditions that continue to bring families together year after year.
