UPDATE: Regarding ICE 🧊— I have had many people reaching out and wondering if we ever got the ice machine up and running, offering generators, adapter 4 prong plugs, etc. (Read until the end please.)

MAHLO NUI to everyone that has stepped up and offered to help in whatever way to get ice out to the community.

The answer is both Yes… and No. Yes- we were able to get a generator that supported the ice machine (Mahalo nui to Alex and Shal for loaning their brand spanking new generator!!! 🥳), and an electrician fabricated us an extension cord (Mahalo Wrecks Sorcey)!!

Unfortunately, the ice machine couldn’t put out enough ice for the amount of propane it was using and time it was taking.
It was blowing through it (both propane and time— like watching paint dry). 😢 It was not sustainable.
We were able to get some ice to some local families that needed it though, so we are thankful for that opportunity!!

Fortunately, Mountain View Mini Mart got a large delivery of Ice today… and also Safeway has Ice again as of tonight (I was just there).

👉🏼👉🏼 I have decided to switch my efforts to chef’in it up and supporting Emma guys at “The GRiND” as they are delivering food/meals/baked goods to the workers down in Pahala this upcoming Thursday (and possibly in some future days ahead also).

How can YOU help?! If you have resources and want to support that effort to feed the workers who are working tirelessly to get electricity restored — please reach out to Emma and ask how you can support her/their efforts.

Mahalo again to everyone!!! Our continued thoughts and prayers are with you all. We have so much to still be thankful for. Let’s pull together and continue to serve where we can. 🙏🏼

📣SOS Hilo/Puna — Does anyone have a 220v Generator I can borrow so I can make ICE 🧊 for people in the community? I have a commercial ice machine and it can make a lot!

Electricity is not expected back on until possibly Monday evening (maybe longer?)…

Tend of thousands of people are without electricity so hoping to get some ice to those in need.

My ice machine is in Mountain View.

I had so much fun making these little Kalua Pork Pozole Verde Kits to bring to church tomorrow.

My love language has always been food. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to love others through food service and hospitality- both as a career, but also volunteering at church.

Food is a universal language which everyone speaks! It always has a way of bringing people together, making people feel more comfortable and “a part of”. At church it allows more personal connection opportunities and for the Holy Spirit to move and work in people’s lives as new friendships are built — all while drinking coffee and eating snacks.

Big thanks to EVERYONE that serves— the publicly seen and the behind-the-scenes, including those doing the acts of service none of us want to see (like cleaning toilets!! 😂)

You are valued and SO appreciated!! Keep loving people through whatever ways God has gifted you. 🙏🏼

🥳 Mahalo nui to everyone who showed up this past Friday for our short day as we transition out of a regular schedule and out of food truck life.

It was crazy though, because at the end of the day, even after serving you all, I felt like we still had just as much ingredients remaining as we had started the day with! 😂 It was like Jesus multiplying loaves and fishes— except it was fish tacos this time! 🙏🏼

👉🏼👉🏼Not sure which date yet, but at some point in the future we will open again for another short day— We will keep you posted. ✨

Mahalo Kalei and Levi for all your love and support. Your friendship has been a blessing ever since moving to the island. You welcomed us with open arms and shared your table with us. NGL- Kinda felt like sitting at “the cool kids table”. 😂🫶🏼

👩🏼‍🍳After much deliberation on what to do with our excess product/ingredients, we decided to open this Friday June 5 from 12-4 (or until SOLD OUT!).

So just like I have done for 4.5 years— I stopped by the farm and bought plenty of cilantro! But this time said a hui ho (Until we meet again).
A few tears were shed on both sides as we value the friendship that has been born through my cilantro pick ups. I have appreciated everyone at the farm and their kindness to me over the years- including inviting me to a party and also sharing their lunches with me on occasion (traditional Filipino meals 😋). 🫶🏼
Mahalo to Sherrill and her wonderful crew! I will miss you all!

To our last guests ever (from South Korea and Oahu— and both arrived AFTER closing 😂 — May 29, 2026)…

And to every single guest in between (during open hours… or knocked on our door when closed, requesting food or just to say hi 😘)…

THANK YOU for being part of our story!! What an amazing 5 years it has been!!

Our days have been filled with so many fabulous families and folks from near and far. (Can I use any more ‘f’ words? No, not that one. 😂)

We have been blessed to be part of such a welcoming and encouraging community. You all showed up
consistently (even in down-pouring 🌧️) and become an integral part of who we are and our SUCCESS story!! Praise God for each of you!!

It is because of you 🫵🏼 that we were able to stay in business for 5 years!! That is no small feat!!

It is because of you 🫵🏼 that we were honored to be listed on TWO of Yelp’s “Top 100” lists for restaurants and food trucks across the entire USA in 2025.

It is because of you 🫵🏼 that we stayed “5 stars ⭐️ “ on Google — because many of you chose to take time from your busy lives and leave a review so others could learn about us and we could receive feedback. Although some days we fell short of 5 star service— and we apologize for those times. We are thankful you all felt we deserved 5 stars ⭐️overall!! 🙏🏼

We also have been honored to be listed on Naver Cafe (a Korean review website) and Xiaohongshu (a Chinese review site).

It was a tough start opening during COVID (June 23, 2021), but a slower start is what God knew we needed to learn and grow without overwhelm and stress.

Although we’re closing our garden gate— it is on our terms, because it’s time to move into some new chapters and chase new dreams and adventures in life— and eventually move closer to our “kids” back on the mainland. 💕

To keep up with Saucy Mama’s adventures— please continue to follow along and be patient. We hope to EVENTUALLY bottle some of our sauces… and maybe package our “African Peanut Soup”.
