IMPORTANT UPDATE: ALDOT will close all lanes of US 280 at Pump House Road to complete bridge demolition as part of the highway widening project.

Beginning at 11 p.m. on Friday, March 20, weather permitting, crews will close all lanes of US 280 in both directions at Pump House Road.

Eastbound lanes will remain closed through the morning of Monday, March 22. Westbound lanes will reopen each morning at 5 a.m. before closing again at 11 p.m. Crews expect to reopen all lanes by 6 a.m. Monday morning.

The eastbound off-ramp to Pump House Road will remain closed for the entire weekend.

This demolition is necessary to widen US 280 to four lanes in each direction from Lakeshore Parkway to I-459. Major delays are expected, and ALDOT encourages motorists to begin planning alternate routes now. The recommended detour is Lakeshore Parkway to I-65 to I-459 to US 280 and the reverse route for westbound travel.

There will be one additional weekend of road closures later in the project to complete bridge construction.
