We don’t care how you eat it,
as long as you LOVE IT! 💙

At the Greek Trailer we don’t care how you love your gyro (we may judge you) but we won’t stop you from making it YOUR gyro.

As the traditional gyro in Greece is served with tzatziki, tomato, onion and topped with fries, doesn’t mean we can get make a good Americanized gyro! Check out some of our favorite enhancements you can make to our delicious O.G. gyro!

1. + Ketchup +Mustard
This is actually another standard way of ordering a gyro in Greece! The Greeks love a good gyro with ketchup and mustard!
2. + Veggie mix
Our vegetarian mix is a delicious combination of cucumber, green pepper, onion, tomato, feta cheese all chopped and marinated in our OG dressing for that mouth watering flavor
3. Substitute spring mix for fries
Lettuce isn’t a typical topping for a gyro in Greece but we understand it’s the Americanized version and we don’t care if adding those Greens means more Green for us we’ll do it!

(Equal or lesser value)

TOMORROW, Friday May 1st is 🥗

While we Greeks love our delicious gyros, souvlaki, keftedes, and everything MEAT, we too love a GREAT salad.

Σαλάτα (Saláta) or also known as Horiatiki Saláta, THIS is the traditional Saláta of Greece. Made up of tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, green peppers, olives and delicious feta. The typical way of dressing in Greece is simply olive oil, salt and pepper.

“Greek Salad” know to Americans as a bed of lettuce topped with tomato, cucumbers, red onion, green peppers olives and feta.

Don’t forget to add the meat! Add shaved gyro or souvlaki to any slatáta fo the PERFECT Greek meal!

There may be imitators, there may be wannabes,
But NO ONE can touch the O.G. !!!

We’ve been serving the same great gyro since we opened in 2019. We properly named our gyro the O.G. Which stands for ORIGINAL GREEK 🇬🇷

Gyro (Yee-ro) being a Greek word which means ‘to turn or go around’ is to be referenced to the way the meat in a pita is prepared. If YOU DON’T SEE stacked meat on rotisserie, sorry you’re not eating a gyro, you just eating a pita sandwich.

Being that the word ‘GYRO’ is Greek - you would expect a GREEK gyro to be served. This is ALWAYS AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN Pork or Chicken. NEVER LAMB. ❌🐑

If you want to experience Greek Gyros the way they are made in Greece but don’t want to spend the 💲 to get there, just stop by My Big Fat Greek trailer to indulge in ALL the Greek goodness that we have! Yassas!

Heard flashbacks to 2016 are trending,
lets flip that 6…
2019,

2 northern transplants in their 20’s, a craving, head full of dreams, and empty pockets.

This is our origin story.

Both born in the 90’s in central PA, hospitals 45 minutes away from each other, One born in America raised by Americans in the US, the other born in America raised by Greeks in Greece.

In 2001 the Greeks move to America
The “American Dream” was alive and well overseas so with a few suitcases and whole lot of unknowns, leaving behind a crumbling economy, unreasonable level of living and hopes for a better life for their children the Kakaziotis’s fly to Central PA where relatives have already settled.

After 16 years in PA and being convinced by the newcomer a ξένο (My Big Fate Greek Wedding reference, if you know, you know) of 3 years to the family to move south, everyone agreed. House was sold, business closed, a full U-Haul and a few vehicles and the family relocated to Charleston.

From there, we all didn’t know what the next step was. Jobs were maintained but we knew we could do more. We were here, loved it, had no intentions of leaving, but missed the flavors of all the delicious Greek restaurants in the north.

Discovering the need for an authentic Greek gyro spot, An idea was born, funding was secured, and a plan was set forth to introduce Charleston to the Greek food we missed, we love and we indulge in when in Greece,
My Big Fat Greek Trailer is born!

Fast forward 7 years and here we are today. Crazy to think about. We wouldn’t trade a single moment of it for anything else. Through the ups and downs, rained out events, trailer disconnects on 17, global pandemic shutdowns, nothing is guaranteed so Thank you for being a part of our story and journey! Without you, none of this would be possible and we can’t express our gratitude enough.

Σας Ευχαριστούμε, με αγάπη
