Getting ready to start cleaning for the end of the night when we got one last order over the phone. Large ticket a lot of food, which would mean more money to pay my hard-working staff.
After over an hour wait and a couple of phone calls, they decided that they were not going to pick up the order. Not a big deal to them sure, but to us a small business it hurts. We are taking a loss on the food we prepared, it's been packed and prepared to order, meaning we can not put it away for the next person. This all costs us money that we can not afford to waste. Food costs are going up across the board for everyone and restaurants feel it more than most.
Because of situations like this, we will start asking for payments over the phone for orders larger than 20 dollars.
Also, quick reminder we do not deliver. We have never delivered. We do have Doordash that delivers our food but you have to order through their app for that delivery, they charge 30% on top of our food prices, so often people would rather call us and pick up rather than pay the Doordash fee.
