*THE GRATEFUL GOURMET (Mount Holly, NJ)*
Last week I had such an enjoyable lunch at a first time dining establishment for me called The Grateful Gourmet in Mount Holly, NJ at 25 Church Street. Wow…the menu has tons of delicious options that change weekly and has a seasonal flare to it. The ingredients are all shopped for weekly so everything is fresh. The soups are made from scratch. The interior is so fun with tons of pictures and signs. And the owner/staff are so personable and very welcoming. They accommodate their customers and aren’t shy with their recommendations! Previously working in the healthcare field, Desiree ended up having a change in her livelihood once covid hit that propelled her into the food truck realm and more recently opening this delicious spot. This is truly the epitome of a hidden gem that is a must try.
As I didn’t about 20 mins talking to the owner/chef Desiree and her cohort Eva, I was brought out a sample of the pimento cheese w/fire crackers. This was tasty along with a little kick that was delightful. I ordered one of their ever changing mocktails, Blackberry Thyme Bramble which was a nice change up from regular drinks. I followed my pimento cheese up with their weekly special soup, Carrot Pumpkin Curry. I had to tell them I would come back for the soup alone! This soup was flavorful with a nice pop of curry that wasn’t overpowering yet enjoyable. I can’t wait to try other soups from her. Amazing!
For my main I got the sandwich special, The Rocky Balboa…tender pork burger, sautéed broccoli rabe, sharp provolone, mozzarella cheeses and long hots on griddled sourdough accompanied with garlic aioli served with a side. They let me try half and half of their side specials…German potato salad and southwest chipotle pasta salad. From my first bite this pork burger was amazing! Tons of flavor, beautiful cheese combo and such a perfectly cooked pork burger. The sides were so good as well especially the pasta salad that had an enjoyable kick to it.
I truly cannot wait to get back here to try so much more of their menus. Tuesdays are “take out Tuesday”, open wed-sat 11-3, brunch on Saturday, breakfast all day throughout the week. From mocktails to sandwiches to desserts that I cant wait to try…this adorable spot is a must try for a very lovely lunch. Stop in and tell em The Helpful Masticator sent ya!
