Good after noon everyone. Whew, some kinda rain we are getting, right? Feels like a good go to church and come home and snuggle up kinda day. I actually turned my fireplace on by my bed and snoozed for a few.
Anyway, I told you I would post pictures of my week. Well let me tell you, it was a crazy week. I had a corporate order for 150 -8"cakes. They didn't care what flavors they were, and I asked if I could include bundt and loaf cakes and cupcakes. Trying to save refrigerator space for the iced cakes. I was given the greenlight to go, so I rolled with it. I put the cake flavor on the comment for each picture, I baked from 6-10 of each flavor.. It was a long week for sure, but all was completed and ready for pickup on Friday. If you have or work for a business needing baked goods, or gift cakes/goodies, give me a call at 540-828-3155. Hope you all enjoyed a wonderful weekend. Once the rain cleared up, it was rather nice out. The picture is a bridal shower cake from last Sunday,,I couldn't post the picture till after the party, so here it is. I will post the rest of the week tomorrow. Good evening. Hope you all enjoyed your weekend, I have. Well, this week we switch over to FALL. Hard to believe, but this actually starts my countdown to the holidays. Can you believe Thanksgiving is 2 months away, Christmas 3 months. I just can't believe it. Anyway, I am updating my Holiday Menu so I can post it and hopefully y'all can share it with friends and family. I usually just include seasonal favorites, but hope you all know anything I make is always included anytime, just not enough room to include on the menu- it would be 10 pages long, LOL. Anyway, I'll be posting that in a few weeks, please keep an eye out for it. I appreciate it.

Hope you all are having a great week so far. I thought some cooler air was creeping in, but it didn't stay did it? Well, cooler days will be here before we know it.
Interesting tidbit I thought I'd share, just because a few customers have asked and many customers don't know. I'm always one for having the truth be told. Too many rumors, and no truth to them. Had a customer picking up recently and they asked me why I closed my storefront? "Was the rent too high"? They asked. Nope, I actually bought my building, I did not rent at all ( I actually bought both my buildings for my shops, Lynchburg for Chestnut Hill Bakery and here). Other than paying my mortgage, I was debt free, One reason we could be reasonable on what we sold. I am thankful I never, in my 50 years in business, took out any business loans, didn't need to. My mom was a very smart cookie, she always taught me to save for what I wanted and buy it when I had the money. She was very much against being in debt. I'm glad she taught me how to do that, cause let me tell you,,I see so many bakeries closing cause they cannot afford the debt they accumulate. It's hard to be in business when everything goes to bills before you even get to payroll then profit. That is serious stress, but so glad I did not have that to deal with. My mom and dad showed me the importance of tithing, which both my bakeries did and still do today. If you know what I'm talking about, then you know the blessings it brings. Anyway, I told that customer my reason for moving my business was due to the stroke I had in October 2023. Alot of life changes from that, but low and behold God was in every bit of it. When you know, you know, he is faithful. I am thankful I still get to do what I was made to do, and thankful for all of you, my customers and friends. Thank you again for your continued support. I love to be a small part of all of your events from weddings, baby showers, birthdays, retirements and other celebrations. Life is sweet!

Good evening, I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend. I enjoyed a quick run to the beach with 2 of my grandkids. It was a great time at the beach and fishing that evening on the pier.
I guess it's time to get in gear for fall now, and the holidays quickly approaching as well. For now, it's actually a pretty booked wedding season for me again this year, always a fun time of year.

Wow, the heat really came back HOT! Y'all stay cool, drink lots of water. Just think, the cooler temps aren't too far off. Hope you all have a great Labor Day Weekend. Relax and enjoy.
Couple older pictures for fun. Sometimes I just look at pictures of cakes I've done and just think "WOW" that was a long time ago. I happened to find an old phone and charged it up and used my house wifi to let my grandson pull up kids videos. I have thousands of photos, hardcopy and digital, over my 50 years of decorating cakes, etc. Whenever I go back and look at them, I see how I'm never too old to try new tricks, keep moving forward. I find it even funnier to be part of so many cake groups on social media and see folks posting so called " new tricks", but I actually had learned these tricks 50 years ago. What goes around comes around, right? I never had a desire to get into those super time consuming decorated cakes, ones that take days, weeks to create, life size and life like. The market for those types of cakes is pretty slim, cause most people can't afford them. But I have, over the years, pushed my bounds to try new designs or techniques, and that is always fun.
