Dear Molly’s and Market Street Pizza friends, family, and customers old and new,

We have come to a difficult decision. It is with a heavy heart that we must tell you we are going to close both our restaurants in three weeks. The last day of dinner service for both restaurants will be October 24th.

This is not a decision we have taken lightly. We have agonized over it for a long time. But it is time for us to make a change.

Over the last 12 and 1/2 years we have had an incredible ride. We certainly never expected to make it this far. Our business grew from 3 employees to 35. Our dinner and cocktail menu evolved from classic dishes and drinks to innovative and elegant expressions of flavor and texture, imagined and created entirely by our incredible staff. We went from recieving all our ingredients on a large distributor's truck to sourcing most of our vegetables from amazing local produce farmers. Our dining room went from occasional busy nights to being full every weekend. We have watched our customers and our employees grow through stages of life, children becoming young adults, young adults starting careers, career professionals retiring. Through it all, we have continued to be amazed by our customers’ appreciation and support for our original mission: to provide a dining experience that truly feeds and satisfies. To create a place where we can have a moment away from our lives, where we feel taken care of and considered, where we can choose our journey, be it the cravably familiar or adventurous unknown.

We feel immense gratitude for the reliability of our regular customers, many of whom have dined with us several times a month. We feel honored to be the chosen spot for special occasions, birthdays, anniversaries. Marriage proposals have been made and accepted in the Molly’s dining room. Wedding parties have celebrated on the back patio. Simpler moments resonate too, like a first taste of a new ingredient, a discovery that can open a door to a whole new experience. None of this would have been possible without our customers, our staff, our family and our friends.

There are seasons to life, and for us this season has come to its end. Please join us in the next 3 weeks in saying goodbye, and sharing your stories.

We’re not saying you can’t get Chinese takeout.

We’re just saying we make a pretty good case for sitting down and letting us do the cooking.

Our Five Spice Pork Egg Rolls are crispy on the outside and packed with savory five spice pork, tender cabbage, mushrooms, and carrots, with a bright ponzu sauce for dipping.

And then there’s our Orange Chicken Lo Mein — crispy fried chicken tossed in a sweet, citrusy orange glaze, piled over lo mein noodles with broccoli, cabbage, carrots, and scallions, then finished with crunchy five spice cashews. Prefer it plant-based? Swap the chicken for tofu and it’s completely vegan.

After a busy season, we’re taking a little time to reset, refresh, and get ready for what’s next at Molly’s.

Our last dinner service will be Friday, September 25, and we’ll be closed from September 26 through October 7.

We’ll reopen Thursday, October 8, with a slightly changed schedule:

The Silk Road was a meeting place for flavors, ingredients, and traditions from across a vast stretch of the world.

That idea found its way into this dish.

Roasted carrots and warm curry risotto come together with toasted coconut and dukkah, bringing layers of spice, nuttiness, and texture. An apricot and cherry chutney adds a bright, sweet-tart contrast that brings everything into balance.

It’s a dish built around the idea of different flavors meeting, complementing one another, and becoming something entirely their own.

When we first got a fryer, there was a period of frying just about anything we could get our hands on—including our homemade sourdough bread.

And as it turns out, fried sourdough is a pretty great idea.

Years later, that same crispy, golden bread is making its way onto our new Panzanella Salad, alongside mixed greens, creamy burrata, blackberries, cherry tomatoes, and balsamic vinaigrette.

What started as a little kitchen experiment stuck with us—and now it’s become one of the best parts of this salad.

We were frying everything. Sourdough included. So when we asked, “What if we fried it?”—we already knew the answer.

At Molly’s, we believe the little things matter. From the food that leaves our kitchen to the way a guest is welcomed when they walk through the door, every detail plays a part in the experience.

As a host, you’ll be one of the first people our guests meet—and one of the people who helps set the tone for their entire visit. We’re looking for someone who is warm, attentive, dependable, and genuinely enjoys taking care of people.

Restaurant experience is a plus, but it isn’t everything. We’re much more interested in finding someone who is willing to learn, works well with a team, and takes pride in what they do. We want our staff to bring their own strengths and personality to the table, while working together to make Molly’s the kind of place people want to come back to.

Today, we’re celebrating the birthday of the woman behind Molly’s!

While Molly’s has become a place for great food, thoughtful cocktails, and good company, at the heart of it all is Molly herself — and the people and community she’s built around this place.

When asked what her favorite thing about Molly’s is, her answer was simple: “The community that it has created.”

One of her favorite memories is the moment Molly’s stopped feeling like an idea and started feeling like a real restaurant — when the dining room went from familiar faces whose orders she knew by heart to a room full of happy strangers who would eventually become friends and regulars.

Her passion for cooking started with her mother, who was a fierce cook herself. She took chances, made weird things, and gave Molly the freedom to do the same. That sense of curiosity has clearly stayed with her. She dreams of eating her way through the Japanese countryside, experiencing open-pit cooking, and watching Indian flatbread being slapped onto the side of a hot wall — “like aerobatic baking,” as she puts it.

Another thing that stands out about Molly is how much she cares about the people around her.

She works incredibly hard, and somehow manages to balance running a restaurant with raising three girls, while still making sure the people at Molly’s are taken care of. She has a way of paying attention to the people around her — noticing when someone needs a little extra support, celebrating the wins, and making sure her team knows they’re valued. Her care for the people at Molly’s is something you feel every day, and it’s a big part of what makes Molly’s feel like the community she’s so proud of.

This year, she says she’s especially proud of the kitchen and bar — the consistency, creativity, and sheer amount of food and drink they put out every day. She’s also proud of the relationships we’ve built with local growers and the privilege of serving produce that comes from such incredible people.

And when she’s not at Molly’s, her perfect day looks a little different: time with her husband, Ben and her girls, a long walk, and roasting or grilling something good. She loves swimming in the ocean, has always been curious about food and places she hasn’t experienced yet, and secretly thinks she’d make a pretty good private investigator.

As Molly looks toward another year, she hopes it brings “clarity, change, new concepts and pockets of exhausting laughter.”

We hope it brings all of that and more. We’re incredibly lucky to have someone who works as hard as Molly does, cares as deeply as she does, and never stops checking in on the people around her. She has built so much more than a restaurant — she’s built a place where people feel cared for, and we’re grateful to be a part of it.

Happy birthday, Molly. We hope today you feel just how much you are appreciated. ❤️🥂

Every summer, we know this question is coming:

“Can you do a Basil Martini?”

The answer is always our favorite: Absolutely.

Made with basil picked from our garden beds, muddled with a lemon wedge and shaken with Junipero Gin, Lillet Blanc, limoncello, lemon juice, and a touch of simple syrup, it’s bright, refreshing, and everything we love about summer in a glass.

It’s one of those cocktails guests ask about long after basil season has passed, but our Basil Martini is truly a seasonal favorite. We make it when our garden is growing and the basil is at its freshest—so when it’s here, it’s time to enjoy it.
