Meet Loki! Loki is a 12-year-old petite lady, that has the energy of a much younger dog. Because of her age, she would do best in a quiet home with adults or older teens. Loki can be vocal when she wants to be in your arms, or cuddling in a warm blanket on the couch with you watching a movie. She may take a little time to warm up to her new family, but she is worth the patience! Loki is kennel trained and keeps her kennel clean. She may need a puppy pad in her kennel overnight, if it is going to be a long night. Loki loves to go on walks outside and does very well on a leash. She is UTD on age-appropriate vaccines, spayed, and microchipped. Apply today!!

It's Dog Bite Prevention Week and there's one piece of advice that could prevent many people - especially children - from being injured by an offleash, unfamiliar dog who approaches. BE A TREE!

From the Karen Pryor clicker training website:
"Dogs are stimulated by movement and noise and children are known for their movement and noise!
..One of the most valuable skills that children can learn is to stand still and "Be a Tree" if a strange dog comes near them, or if a dog is bothering them or becoming too frisky.

Here is how to "Be a Tree":

1, Stop.
2. Fold in your branches (hands folded in front).
3. Watch your roots grow (look at your feet).
4. Count your breaths in your head until help comes or the dog goes away.

"Trees" are boring to dogs. A dog will just sniff at a child/tree and then go away. No matter what the dog does, it is important for the child to stand still, avoid eye contact (by looking down at his/her feet), and stay quiet."

Hi everyone, I’m sure by now most of you have heard that Maria’s Pub has been sold. Tonight will be our last night. I want to thank everyone that has supported us for the last 13 years, we could not have done it without you, even during the shut down due to COVID, you kept our heads above water with your take out orders and we will never forget that. I have made so many friends, and many of you have become family to me. I wish that I could name you all, but there are way to many of you, (you know who you are)and I love you! I also want to give a big shoutout to Joe, my son for helping me run the place while I went to school and studied, Lily the rockstar who at the young age of 18 can cook on the grill like a champ, Alicia our awesome bartender who was with us for many years, Sara our Sunday morning cook, who makes a mean omelette, Mikhayla who steps up whenever we need her and makes beautiful charcuterie boards, and all of our past bartenders & cooks. We will end our time here with live music tonight from 6-10 pm. After tonight, the bar will be closed and the new owner Joe Freund will reopen on Thursday, April 8. From the bottom of my heart, Thank you!!!

Maria’s Pub has adopted a family of 4 from The Salvation Army this year for Christmas. I was once one of these children who had their name on a tree, of course I didn’t know that until years later. My biggest memory, was waking up one Christmas morning to find a gift under the tree with my name on it. I remember opening that gift with so much excitement to find a Barbie doll with long red hair and her own curling iron ( A memory I will always cherish). I looked up and thought to myself, there really is a Santa Claus. Even at that young age, I knew that my mother could not afford something like that. What a wonderful day that was, all because a total stranger with a huge heart picked my name off a tree and bought me a gift. Imagine the joy that you can bring to child on Christmas morning if you could take the time to come in and pick a name off of our tree. This has been a very hard year for all of us, let’s make Christmas extra special for this family in need.
