A couple of years ago, we decided that we would make an effort to take time off. You see, if we didn't make a conscious effort, we never would. There would always be something we needed to get done instead.
But, how could we afford to do that?
We actually had a customer tell us that they were always paying on a trip. Once they paid it off and went on the trip, they would schedule another one.They use "Upgrade," I believe? You can make monthly payments on trips, either low interest or no interest? That inspired us.
We decided to try another route, though. We decided to follow Kyle's dad's savings plan. 😂
He had a ceramic duck on a shelf where he put any extra money he made. When he needed the money he had been saving, he would get it out of the "ducks butt." 😂
So every month, we put away a little money in our "ducks butt"...plus any extra money we got, from selling things, or garage sales, etc. And that became our vacation fund. It really made going on a vacation a lot more doable for us.
And I am so glad we did it!
Skip getting a coffee. Save the money you would've spent eating out. Sell the extra stuff lying around. Even saving your change every day adds up.
Give it a try. Make plans to take that vacation. Make memories.
You will never regret it!
