What a weekend at The Fort.

Our courtyard came alive with incredible work from artists Veronica and Ernest Benally, Adrian Wall, Elizabeth Digiorgio, and Deborah Lujan, paired with live music from Roma Ransom and Ryan Flores, good food from our truck, and frozen margaritas from the Whiskey Library.

Fort Days of Summer continues July 17-19 with an enhanced weekend you won’t want to miss.

This weekend, our courtyard comes alive with talented artists Veronica and Ernest Benally, Adrian Wall, Elizabeth Digiorgio (Ella James Hattery), and Deborah Lujan, each bringing their own craft and story to The Fort.

Live music joins the lineup with Roma Ransom taking the stage on July 18, followed by Ryan Flores on July 19. Grab a bite from our food truck and a frozen margarita from the Whiskey Library while you take it all in.

Join us in Morrison, Colorado for a weekend of art, music, and great food.

Every dish at The Fort has a story. The Gonzales Steak started as an April Fool’s joke.

In 1964, Holly’s father tried to prank Elidio Gonzales, the Taos woodcarver responsible for much of The Fort’s furniture and doors, by telling him this “wasn’t a Mexican restaurant” and refusing to make him a steak with chiles. He made it anyway, in secret, stuffing a thick
sirloin with roasted green chiles before serving it to Elidio as the punchline.

Elidio took one bite and told him he was the real fool for not having it on the menu already.
Six decades later, he’s right. The Gonzales Steak is still one of our most beloved dishes, and Elidio’s doors still welcome guests into The Fort today, with other pieces of his craftsmanship tucked away in special corners of the restaurant.
