Sanitary Fish Market & Restaurant Locally owned & operated seafood restaurant in Morehead. Hours are subject to change. The Sanitary Fish Market and Restaurant has been in business since 1938.

In addition to a wide variety of seafood, we serve steak,chicken and several pasta dishes. Luncheon specials are served from 11:30 a.m. til 3 p.m., dinner menu available from all day. We now have our full ABC permit and are serving mixed drinks, frozen drinks, and more. There is ample parking in the front, and a floating dock is available for boaters (free if you're just stopping in to eat, $25 to stay overnight).

If you're coming by boat, we've saved you a spot.

We offer overnight docking right along the back of the restaurant, first come first serve. Dining customers dock for $25 a night; non-dining customers pay $1 per foot. No electricity or water hookup, just a place to tie up and grab dinner.

As fall winds down the boating season, it's a good time to make one more trip to the water.

Here's a piece of our history that most people don't know. Our name isn't about the food, it's about the building.

Back in 1938, the building's owner required the place to be spotless, no exceptions. Captain Tony and Captain Ted took it seriously enough to name the whole restaurant after it, so customers would know exactly what they were walking into. A health inspector even showed up early, and they passed with the state's blessing: "Certified Restaurant."

Tony went up on the roof himself and painted "Restaurant" onto the sign. The rest is history.

The NC Seafood Festival takes over our waterfront every October, and we couldn't be happier about it.

This year, the NC Seafood Festival runs from Oct 2nd - Oct 4th on the Morehead City Waterfront, and it's North Carolina's largest three-day festival.

We've been serving this coast since 1938, so a festival built around celebrating local seafood feels like our kind of weekend. Come for the festival, stay for a seat on our deck.
