We are very excited to announce that Hippie Chickpea products are now available for purchase at the Hunger Mountain Co-op !
Today June 14th we will be at the Co op from 11am to 1pm
So, if you forgot how awesome our falafel is, come by and try a sample, or just stop by and say hello if you are in the neighborhood.
If you didn't know, the Co op now offers our falafel, tahini sauce, herb sauce and harissa. They are available 7 days per week in the grab and go deli case. Add some pita and veggies from the store and you will have a delicious sandwich! or you can top your salad too.
We are very happy to be sharing our super power with our community once again!

Greetings Montpelier and Hippie Chickpea fans everywhere,
It has been an honor being a part of the small business community in downtown Montpelier for the past 5 years. Thanks to you, June 2023 was our busiest month in the history of the Hippie Chickpea. Friday July 7th, was our busiest day EVER! Just three days before the flood.
Unfortunately, like many others in our community, the flood wiped us out on July 10th. We want to share with you that we are unable to continue at 41 Elm St.
All our gratitude to everyone who volunteered and helped us at the restaurant.
Thank you to everyone who said “sorry about the restaurant”. It was rough, not gonna lie. And we have a challenging road ahead, but…
Our story is one of success!
It was a great run for us at 41 Elm St. We watched our little falafel shop grow year after year. The feedback and support of our community was amazing and we are forever thankful for it.
This update is to say we are still here and we are working towards coming back. We just don’t know what that might be yet. We have lots of solid ideas, we just need to find the right spot. Could it be Hippie Chickpea 2.0? Maybe, not sure. It just has to make sense. It will come together, it is just going to take some time.
In the meantime, we are looking at any and all locations and options. Please reach out to Vince via [email protected] with any leads on spaces for sale or lease. Thank you!

This coming Saturday October 28th, we are participating in the Oktoberfest at Farr’s field in Waterbury.
There will be live music from 12pm to 4pm.
Come say hi and enjoy some Oktoberfest fare and local brews. So many generous community members, local restaurants, breweries and musicians have donated their time and super powers to make this an amazingly fun event. Thank you!
Please join us in supporting this event which directly benefits the restaurants in downtown Montpelier that were decimated by the flooding.

Hello friends of AR!

We are officially back to our regular hours!

Many have asked what they can do to help. In addition to coming down and shopping, you can buy gift cards! Buy them for your friends who are working their butts off volunteering, buy them for someone you think may not have shopped here before! Also, word of mouth works, just tell people we're here and open for business. We'd love to see more people coming through our doors.

While there are some road restrictions in Barre, it's all smooth sailing coming off the beltline to us, and fyi, you don't have to feed the parking meters right now!

I am posting this update with a tired calm voice.
This is where we are at. Still cleaning up. Still figuring out what the priorities are for today. We are all (downtown business owners) exhausted mentally and physically. We still haven’t checked in with each other. Even with what’s going on, we still need to take care of our kids, cook meals, laundry etc. figuring out how we can help our employees and neighbors. its daunting. We still have to tally losses of equipment and inventory.

I am asking everyone to please stop asking us when/ if we will reopen. We have many questions with few answers right now.

We are so grateful to be here surrounded by this wonderful community. Please help in whatever way you can. Check in often and be good listeners. Donate to gofundme pages and write or call our local, state and federal agencies and tell them Montpelier businesses need help and funding to reopen. We don’t need loans.

Dear friends. I am deeply saddened to send everyone this message. It’s hard to even type this out. My brain is fried. The amazing little restaurant we spent the last 5 years building is gone. We thank all of our employees and everyone who has helped us along the way. We would not have achieved where we were on Monday without all of you. On Monday we opened for business. Not knowing what was coming. We closed up for the storm around 2pm , thinking we would re open the next day. I am sure by now you’ve seen the photos and videos of the flooding and devastation. We want to thank everyone who has helped us the past few days. EVERYONE! (I am crying now)
You are ALL super heroes to us!
Friends, neighbors and customers who love our restaurant who reached out and just showed up. We cannot express in words how grateful we are.
It was like having angels show up at the right time with exactly what we needed. Power washers, squeegees and helping hands. Cookies, sandwiches, water and hugs just showed up at the perfect time.
We love you back! (Wow this is so hard to write)
Thanks to our friends and neighbors who are helping with our boys too.
They are doing ok thanks to you.
We are going to need help in the coming weeks. It has been hard to get back to everyone but we will as soon as we can.
