Summer Job Openings!
Dawg Daze from The Woods Lodge sells hot dogs, burgers, and fries at Montpelier Rec Field - home field to the Vermont Mountaineers.
If you like baseball, working with the public, being outdoors on summer nights, and having a fun time while earning some extra money, apply now!
The games are in June, July and early August, and can be any day of the week.
Most games are at 6pm. The concession opens at 5, and the shifts start between 3 and 4pm.
Concession Staff, $15/hour
Our concession staff will be responsible for taking orders, setting up take-away containers, cooking hot dogs and burgers on the grill, operating the French fry deep fryers, assembling orders with toppings, etc., and working the pick up window.
Concession Manager, $20/hour
Our new Concession Manager will be responsible for planning, purchasing and supervising the preparation of food sold at the stadium during games. This position also requires extensive organizational skills, as well as an ability to effectively evaluate and respond to customer concerns. We are currently seeking a candidate with at least three years of experience in a fast-paced environment. Must have a vehicle that can be used to transport supplies and some equipment, back and forth from The Woods Lodge in Northfield to the ballfield in Montpelier each game.
Responsibilities:
Increase the sales of food and beverages at the stadium.
Plan concession inventory levels to ensure sufficient supply when needed.
Transport suppllies to and from the ball field and The Woods Lodge.
Perform the duties of one of the following: griller, cashier, fry guy/gal, pick-up window.
Control costs of concessions.
Manage the staff that works under you.
Collect concession data.
Communicate with patrons regarding their food and drink orders.
Manage the operation of the concession stand.

The Woods Lodge would be honored if you would consider nominating us for Seven Days' "Pandemic All Stars" in the category:
"Which Vermont business pivoted the most to serve a greater good?"
Here's why:
Back in March of 2020, when things ground to a halt for the hospitality business, The Woods Lodge had to reinvent itself, or pivot, you could say, just to stay afloat. Instead of catering parties and hosting meetings and events, we began offering a weekly menu of meals-to-go for pick-up and delivery.
But, we knew there were many in our community who could not afford to pay for this type of service (an idea reinforced by the long lines of cars that waited for food at the airports), so we appealed to our customer base to help us feed those in need.
Through that initiative, we were able to raise the funds needed to pay for the provisions and supplies, and we volunteered our time, to provide over 3,000 individually packaged, heat and eat meals, (100 meals weekly), to the Northfield Food Shelf (CERV), helping them meet the food insecurity crisis in Central Vermont, head-on.
In early September, The Woods Lodge then joined the Skinny Pancake in its fight against hunger during this pandemic, by becoming a vendor for the Vermont Everyone Eats program, and since then , we have been serving daily meals to people in Montpelier, Northfield and the surrounding areas, in addition to our weekly menu.
We did not do any of this for publicity, but rather, to keep our business alive, and help our community at the same time -- but this opportunity has arisen to be recognized for what we have done, (and are still doing), and we hope you'll take a moment to nominate us.
