The original Jerlando's opened in April 1994, named after the Purpura's son. While driving down Main Street, Sal and Maria saw Shaquaga Falls and fell in love with the area because it reminded them of their native San Giuseppe Jato, Italy. The views descending from Odessa hill, the vineyards, and Seneca Lake made them "feel at home" and knew this was the perfect area to settle down.
