Owning a small business definitely comes with its highs and lows, and today was one of those days that tested me.
While replacing parts on our espresso machine, one of the new parts didn’t work. When one of the new parts didn’t work, my heart sank. Espresso is our number one seller, and the thought of having the machine down had me worried—not just for Highway Brew, but because I never want to disappoint the people who choose us every day.
After bringing in an extra set of hands and doing everything we could to make the part work, we still weren’t having any luck. Thankfully, I realized I had ordered duplicate replacement parts, and we were able to get everything fixed and back up and running.
But what really stuck with me today had nothing to do with the machine.
In the middle of all the stress, one of the sweetest customers walked in with a thoughtful gift and reminded me that I truly do make a difference.
As a small business owner, I pour my heart into this place. Every drink, every recipe, every smile, every early morning—it’s all because I genuinely care about giving people the best experience I can.
Today reminded me that while the hard days will always come, so will the reminders of why I started this journey in the first place.
