Because We’ve been positively bedeviled by meetings and works etcétera, it took me a minute to post the menu for aprils vegan challenge. This is important to me because, well, I love me some challenge, but more urgently because in this chaos there are people ( ) still holding the line for compassion and what they love. And who doesn’t love that?

So to honor this and my own need for comfort we will be offering three new arepas:

🧙‍♂️Speak FRIEND and enter
Slow braised tofu corned beef style

🫓 Second breakfast

Soy carne con papas, avo and pickled onions

🌶️ Balrog
A hot chipotle sh*take and button mushroom carne with slaw

We will also offer our jackfruit chicken and domino 💕

My favorite week is here! It’s St pitties week 💚 and though it seems incredible that we still have to advocate for one of the most gentle, human loving beings (truly to their detriment) here we are. So share your pitties, go to the (where my darling boys are from!), get yourself some awesome merch to support them and adopt a pittie. Most of the time they are just under the blanket dwellers, mild adventure buddies, excellent roadtrip partners and over all somebody to come home to that simply adores you 🧡
Some extra points if you adopt a senior pittie, or if you chow to embrace the chaos of the exuberance of their youth!
And of all the things I can share you are definitely welcome for the pics of my boys because they are some handsome fellas!

We got to do a couple of celebrations of love this week (with some traveling in between) and it’s always an honor for us to be part of it ❤️

It’s been my experience that figuring out food sometimes seems a bit overwhelming (prices/options and such) if you are thinking about it just email us and we will book a call and I’ll try to make it as sweet and easy as possible so your day can look the way you dream of 🌸

I would like to preface this by saying I write this from the safety of my home and from the worry of my mother land and her well being. I have heard and read all your lovely wishes for me and my family. I have spent an amount of time I wish I have spent sending love messages in arguing with family and friends abroad. I try very hard to not disturb people and their thinking. Yet here I am, I guess to say the situation has many layers.
For those that have cautious doubts on the nature of the crimes of Maduro and his regime please do know he is as guilty as any dictator that preceded him in Latinamerica, same cruelty, same notion that what they were doing was righteous, same populist speech that sees itself as leftists but really only speaks of the brutality of the ruling class.
Now I also see Venezuelans say you cannot speak of Venezuela if you don’t know. But I think in my heart they are wrong. People do know. For ages they have known. They know of exploration and the aftermath of it. Of your only bet being somebody that seeks not your wellbeing but their own gain and what it looks like after. Vietnam knows, so does Haiti that still pays a debt so old for the crime of wishing to be free. So does Afghanistan and so many other countries. So do Cuban people oppressed not only by their own but by an embargo that has such a strong choke on the island it won’t let it breath. So does Hawaii and Puerto Rico. But I do understand that is in the nature of a grief so intense you cannot see to think that no one has ever suffered such loss. And that it’s not only unwise but unkind to argue through it. Better to be a friend and stand close.
There’s also the layer of the people whose tax dollars are paying this mess. Whose own government sinks more and more into an unchecked mess. They have a right to want to see democracy too. To want answers, checks and balances. To fear that their own government is doing the same thing they have done too many times in living memory- in the face of a scandal do start a war!
I don’t have answers but I have fears of what cynicism and hatred will do to us all. We will forget that even those that think unlike us have a right to do so.

I’ve been wanting to make this post for like a month but here we are! And today is the day that the is hosting the first annual mad hatters ball fundraiser to benefit the doula program at . Now there’s a lot I wish to share here along with the call to come party/donate/participate in the wonderful community activities that has going on for south county families. I guess first and foremost if you have been feeling hopeless, this is your chance! Nothing cures despair like working/being in community. Secondly, we know now that the way to benevolent and safe communities is happy and healthy families. If the families are strong and taken care of, crime rates go down, hunger is down and school thrives which produces happy people. This may seem sentimental and subjective but it is not. It is actually very measurable. So the mission of is quintessential to our community.
And last but absolutely not least, my heart absolutely melts for like any endevour of mine, I volunteer to do something but it’s never just me. I have a whole community that sees that realized. And you see this week my students were asked to make hats (learn dexterity and creativity), make cookies, learn what a doula is, and they did that with so much strength, my heart can’t take it. And of course, this was done with the support of and their beautiful staff. For we should all be invested in where we live and the families that surround us.
If an injustice to someone is an injustice to all we can also understand that the opposite is true, standing by someone in your community is standing by all. Justice and love for one family will translate into the wellbeing of all.
So come out and party tonight at the and eat beautiful Jamaica tacos and mushroom tacos (the mushrooms were generously donated by ) and other goodies. Come down the rabbit hole with us and join us in a tea party for mad people that dream of a loving community 🐇

Alright lovely people! We got hallacas for pick up next Wednesday (the 10th) and next Saturday (13th).

Hallacas are $10 and a dozen for $100 we will also have chicken mole tamales. Pan de jamón $16 and pumkin arroz con leche $10 for the mason jar. Let us know if want extra salsa de ajo or picante 💕

Tomorrow will be our last arepa offering pop up of the year 💕 what a year. In December we will be offering hallacas and pan de jamón for pick up.

Our friends are in trouble! (And I dunno what picture to post that will appease the algorithm gods so I pick this one with my hat in a moment of zen I hold for myself).
All around us the crafters, the makers, the dreamers of community spaces of joy are struggling to keep their doors open. Our q***r spaces, our community spaces are having to close their doors. I don’t much have an answer but a call: this holiday season instead of buying gifts if you can take your friends out, your family members. Have a conversation about cider, about beer about q***rness, about love really! We have to be so conscientious how our realities are shifting around us and where we put our money will make a huge difference in your local community. A week ago I saw .pub close and my heart sank.

For most part of it I can say I know these people and I love them deeply and you could too.
Let us give the online world a little less of our energy and give our neighbors a little more love.
This week I went to and was treated to a delicious warm cider and today I went to the and saw an amazing show to support some kitties!
