‼️Today is a very important day in our history as we reflect on D-Day. We are so thankful for our WWII veterans & their families that answered the call & their service for our freedom‼️

I would always call Mr. Walter Dickens from Monroe first thing in the morning at 7:30 am on this day to thank him for his service because I knew that he would have already finished breakfast by 6am! I have missed calling him the past ten years since he has been called to a higher service. Mr. Walt will never be forgotten in my mind so we ALL must keep our history alive for current and future generations to understand the importance of this day. Today is the 82nd anniversary of D-Day. Share with others and take time to reflect on the real importance of this day.

Almost 133,000 troops from the United States, the British Commonwealth, and their allies, landed on D-Day. Casualties from these countries during the landing numbered 10,300. By June 30, over 850,000 men, 148,000 vehicles, and 570,000 tons of supplies had landed on the Normandy shores.

2:30 - 4:30 pm

Your tour will begin with long time resident Dale Loberger at Alice Jules Coffee House by viewing some old photos of downtown Monroe. Next we will start our walk outside and will first pass by the oldest identifiable residential home still standing. Next, we will turn up "Lafayette Street" (which is now called Main Street) revealing the stories behind the buildings still standing and what is now missing.

As we cross over to Hayne Street through Morgan Alley, we will discuss more of the businesses that helped shape Monroe and beyond. Along Hayne Street, we will walk past the residences of important people to our city and reveal details of how Monroe developed.

Finally, we may have the opportunity to briefly visit the first floor of the Belk mansion and learn about their family and ourselves. Please join us for this fun evening of walking and learning about our beautiful town and history.

Happy Friday & get ready for another beautiful day 🌞☀️😎.

We love to highlight our family here at Alice Jules Coffee House and today we want to give a shout out to a family member that has been with us 3 1/2 years and has not missed a full day of work. This family member (Alice … the incredible expresso machine) makes the best drinks and works SEVEN DAYS a WEEK‼️‼️ Alice does an amazing job with all of those espresso shots and stemming your oat, coconut, almond, skim & regular milk for each and every drink here at Alice Jules ☕️.

We are so happy she joined our family over 3 1/2 years ago and she is always at work before we get here and loves all the tunes we play and enjoys a good joke😀😂.

We all ❤️ Alice and treat her well and take good care of her because she is so good to us and all of our customers‼️ She has so many wonder qualities and today we recognize “Alice” as EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH 🎉🎊🥳. I’m sitting here at Alice Jules Coffee House early this morning enjoying the peace and quiet while enjoying a BIG cup of Captain Jack’s Java and just soaking up the moment. Take time today to slow down and be in & enjoy the moment. You see it’s all those small things & moments that matter the most in life and they will bring you happiness, peace and joy ❤️.

What happened to the weekend and where did it go❓ It just flew right by and now it’s already JUNE which means Summer along with Father’s Day is just around the corner. Good morning everyone,

Huge thanks to everyone for all the cards, calls, texts, and seriously heartwarming messages as we celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary ❤️. We had an amazing date night with dear friends at Curry Court, stuffing our faces with dinner and having a fantastic time. It was our first visit, and let me tell you, the service, food, and overall experience were top-notch.

I’m one lucky guy that has been blessed to go through life with Melody and we look forward to many more life adventures and even those bumps in the road because it’s a journey. Life zooms by fast so take a few moments just to appreciate and acknowledge those loved ones in your life❤️.

Now, today promises to be another blast at Alice Jules Coffee House and guess what? We've restocked those scrumptious orange 🍊muffins because, well, you folks devoured them all yesterday‼️ We were PACKED yesterday and you didn't let a little rain ☔️🌧️ dampen your spirits or your coffee cravings, and many of you got to try our new Summer ⛱️😎🏄‍♂️🤿👙🩳 menu board too.
