One week ago, we opened the doors to our new home on Avenue of the Cities 💕

And wow… our hearts are so full. The love and support from our community this past week has meant everything to us. Thank you to every single customer for your patience, kindness, and understanding as our team continues learning new systems during this transition. We truly have the hardest working staff, and they’ve been giving their all every single day.

One of the most special moments? Our very first customer traveled all the way from Wisconsin to visit us 🤩 Now we want to know — where are YOU visiting us from? Drop your city/state below 👇🏾

When I first opened Coya’s Cafe in 2018, it began as a grievance project to honor my mother and keep her memory alive. Because of all of you, her legacy continues to shine brighter than ever. Thank you for being part of our story and the Coya’s Familia. 💕

A quick guide to dining at Coya’s Cafe 💗

To stay true to our original style and create a fast, welcoming experience, we operate cafeteria-style rather than traditional table service. Here’s how it works:

✨ Step 1: Place your order at the front counter or skip the line by using one of our digital ordering tablets.

✨ Step 2: After ordering, you’ll receive a table number. Choose any open table and place your table number at the end of the table for our staff to see.

✨ Step 3: Relax and enjoy the atmosphere! Our team will bring your food directly to your table along with silverware, napkins, and salsa.

✨ Step 4: Need extra napkins, salsa, or supplies? Visit our self-serve dining station anytime.

✨ Step 5: When you’re finished dining, we kindly ask that you help us by placing your plates and trash at the dining station. Our staff will take care of cleaning and sanitizing the tables for the next guests.

Thank you for supporting our small business and growing with us every day. Our goal is to make you feel right at home just like eating at Abuelita’s casa 💗

We are truly overwhelmed by the love, support, patience, and encouragement shown during our Grand Opening on Saturday. Seeing our community celebrate this milestone with us touched our hearts more than words can express.

To every single customer who attended thank you for waiting patiently during long lines and wait times, for showing us grace as we learn new systems and settle into our new home, and for sharing feedback that will help us continue improving. Your support means everything to us.

A huge thank you to our incredible team members who gave it their absolute best all day long. We are truly blessed with the best team. Every plate served was made with love, because together we strive to make every guest feel like they’re eating at Abuelita’s casa.

One of the most emotional parts of the day was seeing familiar faces from every chapter of our family’s journey. Friends who turned into family. From the days when my mother opened Veracruz in the District of Rock Island, to when she helped her nephew Angel Moran operate Jalapeños at Coya's former 4th Avenue location, to our East End neighborhood friends who supported Coya’s from the very beginning in 2018. Thank you for continuing to believe in us through generations.

We appreciate all of the city officials, community leaders, and organizations who attended. Your support for local Latino businesses truly makes a difference in our community.

This project has been in the works for over a year, and we could not have done it without the incredible locally-owned Quad Cities businesses and individuals who helped bring this vision to life.
