This quote is from C. H. Spurgeon's Morning & Evening Devotional. These devotions are sure to bless the believer by bringing to light the joy of the Gospel.

Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-1892), often known today as the Prince of Preachers, began his pastorate at London's New Park Street Church in 1854 at the age of twenty. Following in the Non-conformist tradition, he quickly became one of Britain's most popular preachers. Both his audiences and his written works were voluminous: he often preached (out of doors without amplification) to crowds bettering 10,000, and the sheer number of his written sermons is staggering. A strong emphasis in Spurgeon's preaching was God's grace and sovereignty over man's helpless state. He also knew well the terrible joy that comes only through suffering as he lived quite afflicted (both by illness and slander). C.H. Spurgeon left this earth for his heavenly hope in 1892.

"He hath showed thee, O man, what is good, i.e. what is right, just, and acceptable to himself. He showed it by the light of Nature; for Aristotle (Nature's secretary) saith, It is not likely that God is so well pleased with the costliness of the sacrifices as with the godliness of the sacrifices. He hath showed it much more by the light of Scripture; there he hath told thee what is the unum necessarium, one thing necessary; in comparison whereof all other things are but side businesses; what is the totum hominis, the whole duty of man, sc. to "fear God, and keep his commandments," (Eccles. 12:13); what is the bonum hominis, as here, yea, the summum bonum, or chiefest good of man attainable in this life, viz. communion with God and conformity to God." - John Trapp, in his commentary on Micah 6.

Rev. Franklin Graham warns that believers who fail to understand God's Word, which is key to comprehending what's happening around us, are vulnerable to spiritual attacks. "If you don't know God's Word, you're not gonna recognize spiritual warfare," he said.

"The devil is wanting to trap every Christian, and if he can just get them into apathy, where just they kind of don't care, then he wins," he said. "We have to know the Word of God, we have to study."
