Cooper Restaurants, a division of the Cooper Group of Companies was founded by brothers David J. The company began with a Ruth’s Chris Steak House franchise in Mobile. The franchise was set to close in the late 1990’s but was the favorite restaurant of the Cooper family and Mr. travelled to New Orleans to speak with the Ruth’s Chris founder Ruth Fertel to try to persuade her to not close his favorite restaurant. Fertel could not be swayed but did agree to allow Mr. to become a franchisee and so began Cooper Restaurants. The company now includes two Ruth’s Chris Steak House franchise locations in Mobile, Alabama and in Ridgeland, Mississippi and two restaurants that were founded by Cooper family.
