MAMA'S OWNER BARSTOW DIES
🕊️ Marshall Barstow, the longtime owner of Mama’s on Dauphin Street and a familiar face in Downtown Mobile, has died.

💔 Barstow was found this morning in his vehicle in the parking area near the restaurant. Emergency personnel were called after concern grew when he had been there for some time.

Those who knew Barstow described him as an exceptionally hard worker who remained deeply involved in the daily operation of Mama’s.

“That man was such a hard worker,” one person at the scene said.

Mama’s, at 220 Dauphin St., has been a Downtown Mobile fixture since 2003. Marshall and Katy Barstow opened the restaurant together, building it into one of downtown’s longtime lunch destinations.

Known for Southern home cooking, daily specials, fried chicken, vegetables and other comfort-food favorites, Mama’s has served downtown workers, residents and visitors for more than two decades.

No official cause of death had been announced Thursday, and additional details were not immediately available.
