To say this is not the ending I would have hoped for is an understatement.
I had (and still do have) very high hopes and aspirations for this concept and this business. Sometimes so much so that I put myself into situations that were not conducive to our actual long term growth because I just believed so much that I forgot to look at the facts and evidence that was in front of me.
To everyone who made us a part of your lives for these last few months, we are grateful for you and appreciate you more than I can say.
This is not the amount of time I would have hoped to give as a notice to everyone, but it is the situation we are in and we are trying to make the best of it.
If we don’t see you this weekend, maybe we’ll see you sometime in the future.

Is anyone else getting a little tired of vegan junk food? 🙋🏽‍♂️
Don’t get us wrong, we love a vegan burger and fries as much as some, but at this rate it’s almost like these companies think vegans don’t know how to eat fresh vegetables anymore.
Do we have meat and cheese alternatives? Sure. But our focus is on how to offer them in a fresh and refreshing way that.

Gatherer has never been solely about sandwiches. They are what we make, sure, but we have always been focused on more than simply the food we provide.
In fact, sandwiches weren’t even the first concept that we thought of.
But regardless of food style, one thing has been the drive behind opening a restaurant: Wanting to provide an experience and an all around great place to be.
We don’t know about you all, but we have recently had quite a few experiences dining out that have left us feeling underwhelmed. And we get it; The times we are in are uncertain for many people and businesses. But to us, that means it’s even more important to give you everything we have if you decide to dine with us.
This post isn’t to say we’re better than other places out there or even to put those people or places down.
This is about acknowledging that we also experience and notice these things from the guest side of things. It’s why we focus on creating an experience that not only is welcoming, but shows our gratitude for every person that chooses to visit us.
Are we perfect? Far from it. And we may not get it right all the time. But in striving for perfection we hope to give everyone an experience that makes them feel how much we care. Not just about sandwiches or food, but about them.

We are still early on in our growth and are looking for a particular person who is not only growth minded, but is interested in a long-term home with us.
The position would start off hourly with tips, but we are aiming to bring someone on to grow into running our Mission Beach shop!
This means learning the ins and outs of operations and taking on a management role of sorts. It also entails a mix of kitchen and front of house work.
We aren’t focused on your management experience or technical skills in areas, but rather how well you can fit with our vision and values and our operations with the willingness to learn, adapt, and grow.
While we search for this particular person, we are also looking for someone or a couple people who want some part time work, so if you are someone who maybe isn’t looking for that aspect of growth we can use some help on the service side of things.
If you or someone you know is interested, please send an email to [email protected] and we can start conversations. It’s a tall ask and a very particular role to fill, so we want to make sure to find the right person!

A reminder that we will only be open Thursday this week!
As much as I want to be open all the time, I also realize that sometimes I need to come before the business. So with that, I’ll be taking a small break to recover, network, and refresh to get back into things.
This has all been so rewarding and I appreciate all our regulars so much as well as all the people who continually find us and make the trip down to the beach to try us.

Hey everyone! Still here and still kicking!
Turns out posting on social media falls off when you run everything yourself and are gaining traction 😅
We appreciate all of you who have come in up to this point and continue to support us!
We will be here this weekend including Monday. As we aren’t sure what to expect this weekend, it is highly possible you will see increased wait times and potentially selling out of bread as we get later into the afternoons. We appreciate all the patience and understanding as we navigate what is a fun but crazy time for us here as a new restaurant at the beach.
Look forward to seeing you this weekend and remember to have safe and be safe/responsible!

🔥🥪 Weekend Sandwich Test 🥪🔥 ‘To The Hellfire’ 🔥🥪
Been messing around with this one and figure the best way to test it is to get you all to give it a try.
chicken, pepper jack slices, jalapeño, red bell pepper, banana pepper, and hot sauce served the Gatherer way with pesto mayo, onion, tomato, and greens.
Disclosure: This isn’t unbearably spicy but is meant to have a kick. What we like to call an approachable level of spice.
