💛🎗️ JOE’S SQUAD — THIS ONE HITS CLOSE TO HOME. 🎗️💛
Community. Family. Friends. Support.
Those words have always meant everything to us at Joe’s Pizza. You know our family does our very best to step up and help when someone in our community needs it. And this September, during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we’re asking our Joe’s family to help us rally around a family very close to our hearts.
Our lifelong friends, Joe and Amanda Harper, are facing something no parent or family should ever have to face.
Their daughter, Makenna, was just 13 years old when she was diagnosed with Stage IV rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare childhood cancer.
We can share GoFundMes. We can make donations. We can send prayers, meals, messages and love. But when it’s someone you’ve known and loved for years, it never feels like enough.
Before cancer touches someone you know, childhood cancer can feel like something happening somewhere else. Then suddenly there is a name, a face and a family behind the statistics.
For us, that name is Makenna. 💛
She is a daughter. A sister. A granddaughter. A niece. A cousin. A friend. She loves dogs, she is incredibly creative, and she is so much more than a diagnosis.
She is strong. She is fighting. And she deserves a long, beautiful, healthy life.
This month, we want to do more than simply say we are “aware.”
We want to DO something.
We want our little community to show this family just how BIG its heart really is.
So throughout September, Joe’s Pizza will be finding ways to support Makenna and her family, raise awareness for childhood cancer, and help make a difference. We’ll be sharing more very soon about how YOU can be part of it. 💛
Until then, we ask you to do a few things:
🎗️ LEARN something about childhood cancer you didn’t know before.
🎗️ SHARE Makenna’s story.
🎗️ DONATE to pediatric cancer research or to a family fighting this battle if you’re able.
🎗️ WEAR GOLD for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
🎗️ PRAY for Makenna, her family and every child fighting.
🎗️ And most importantly — don’t stop caring when September ends.
In October, Makenna will still be fighting. Families will still be waiting for scan results. Children will still be going through treatments. Researchers will still need funding.
These children deserve more than awareness.
They deserve better treatments. They deserve more research. They deserve their futures. They deserve their childhoods.
Makenna, you have an entire community standing behind you.
And Harper family — your Joe’s family is standing right beside you. 💛🎗️
