My colleague Traci Williamson and I attended the National Restaurant Association Expo this weekend in the Windy City. What an experience!

This expo is national but known as the world’s largest showcase of foodservice innovation. Trust me, There was equipment and furniture experts, culinary demonstrations and more! Shout out to Minnesota Department of Agriculture for the invite to “walk the floor” and it was an honor to support and watch other Minnesota homerown talent exhibit their crafts; AfricSauce and Mr. Momo!

Four years ago today, Lutunji's Palate opened its very first brick-and-mortar location in the Elliot Park community of South Minneapolis! What a journey it has been.

This milestone has truly revealed the meaning of SWOT — a term I learned yearssssssss ago while working Summit Academy OIC and through the mentorship of Dr. Thomas Adams who became a Brother for life!

Strengths — Strategically building an undefeated, small-but-mighty team committed to carrying out a community vision sparked by one unique Peach Cobbler.

Weaknesses — Learning to identify and navigate challenges: limited resources, systemic oppression, and the “sent” gatekeepers placed along the journey.

Opportunities — Harriet’s Escape Peach Cobbler continuing to open doors that many only dream of walking through.

Threats — The current state of the economy… yet through it all, big FAITH continues to favor Lutunji’s Palate.

With the grace of GOD, four years later, we’re still standing, still growing, and still serving purpose one cobbler at a time. 💛
