We are saddened to announce the closure of Third Street Tavern. It’s been an amazing 7 years, and we are very proud of the staff, some of whom have become like family.
At the end of the day, it was the people that made Tavern a great place to work, eat, and socialize. It was truly like a family corner bar that anchor so many neighborhoods in Milwaukee.
Unfortunately, after over a year of pleading with the property owner to fix key infrastructure and safety issues they wouldn’t come to the table with terms that allow us to properly manage and operate our business. It became clear that they were not interested in investing in the building or saving us as a tenant.
Through those challenges, the team worked tirelessly to create an indelible brand, environment, and experience for our many loyal customers. Whether you lived in the area, visited to attend an event downtown, or simply joined us for our food and socializing, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
We also want to wholeheartedly thank our staff for being the faces, hearts, and souls of Third Street Tavern. It grew into a great brand because all the people who worked in the front and back of the house and came to work every day with a 'best in the world' attitude. That is something to be proud of.
While this space may no longer be the home of Tavern, we loved our food and the concept. You will see the brand will live on through the menu and favorite food items at our other locations.
We love the brand and hopefully we’ll find a new home for Third Street Tavern in the future. But for now, thank you again for all the memories.
We end this era, not sad that it’s over, but proud and grateful that it happened.
