This weekend’s featured shortbread tart slice is our Almond Frangipane Shortbread Tart with a delicate layer of raspberry—and it is absolutely delicious! Almondy, rich, fruity and completely drool-worthy. Definitely worth coming out in the rain for! 😍

Once I saw tomorrow’s forecast, I decided to bake much less than usual. After the big loss we experienced last week, I simply couldn’t risk having that much loss again this weekend. If you have your heart set on something, please come early! Our selection will be more limited than usual, and some items may sell out quickly.

Find us tomorrow at the Historic Lewes Farmers Market, temporarily relocated to the Lewes Elementary School parking lot from 8 a.m.–12 p.m.

Aloha! 🌧️ A quick market update for this weekend:

Because of the rainy weather expected on Saturday, we will be at the Historic Lewes Farmers Market only. The market has been moved to the Lewes Elementary School parking lot.

Unfortunately, we will not be at the Ocean City Farmers Market this weekend. I have a wedding delivery on Sunday, and with weekend traffic, I can’t be certain I would make it back in time for the delivery.

As the school year begins, Mary is also returning to her job with the school district, so we’ll be losing her from our market team. I’m having a difficult time finding new team members, which means our Ocean City schedule may vary for a little while.

Please keep an eye on our page each week for updates about when we’ll be at the Ocean City Farmers Market.

If you havent gotten peaches do it tomorrow. But dont worry I have 20, 5 gallon bags, so we will enjoy peach pastries in the winter.

Bennett Peach Season has finished for the summer. Our season ended early this year due to a lighter crop, an early start and a total loss of our final "Encore" variety of Bennett Peaches.

Pick-Your-Own has finished for the season.

We're a real, working farm that sells only what we grow, so we're limited to what our crop produces.

Our Tuesday Rehoboth Beach Farmers' Market will be moved to The Convention Center parkong lot right in the heart of town. Only a couple of blocks from the park. Come out and see us!

I wanted to take a moment this evening to thank every single person who saw our posts and came out to support us at the Ocean City Farmers Market today.

After the market, several of you placed pickup orders. I met wonderful new customers, saw some of my weekly regulars, and even met two women visiting from New York who were so disappointed that the Rehoboth market had been canceled. They told me they had waited an entire year to come back and buy my gluten-free pastries. One of them looked at me and said, “I waited a whole year!”

Those conversations, along with seeing the familiar faces who visit our booth every week, truly make my heart happy. This beautiful community means more to me than I can put into words.

All I have ever wanted to do is bake and cook for people. It truly is my love language.

I began participating in markets and events during COVID while I still owned my restaurant in Virginia. What started as a way to bring in extra income quickly became something I absolutely loved. When I sold my restaurant and moved to Delaware, I decided to rebuild Kahiau’s Bakery through farmers markets—and I am so grateful to now be part of some of the most incredible markets in this area with the most stellar vendors.
When you support a farmers market, you are supporting small businesses, local families and people who pour their hearts into what they grow, bake, cook and create. Every single dollar matters to us.

We completely understand that markets and events sometimes need to be canceled because of circumstances beyond anyone’s control. However, a last-minute cancellation can mean a significant loss for small vendors—especially during the height of tourist season, after everything has already been prepared, baked, harvested and packed.

That is why today’s support meant so much.
I am grateful for every person who visits our booth, orders a cake, books us for catering, shares our posts or shows up when I put out the call that we have extra pastries. You remind me why I continue doing what I love.

🚨 TUESDAY MARKET UPDATE — AND A BIG ASK FROM OUR LOCAL VENDORS 🚨

The Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market has been canceled for today. Vendors received the notice at 5:45 p.m. last night—which meant many of us had already baked, cooked, harvested, prepped, packed, and were ready to go.

Rehoboth is one of our busiest markets. We prepare nearly three times our normal amount for Tuesdays, and we still sell out almost every week. A last-minute cancellation like this creates a substantial loss—and we are just one of many small businesses affected.
Farmers have an abundance of freshly harvested produce. Bakers have tables full of pastries and breads. Food vendors have meals already prepared. Every vendor invested time, ingredients, labor, and money into today.

We understand that cancellations happen, but this is an especially difficult situation during the final weeks of our busy summer season.

If you normally attend the Rehoboth market—or even if Tuesdays usually don’t work for you—please check the vendors’ pages today. Many are announcing alternate locations, pop-ups, pickup options, and special offers.

As for Kahiau’s Bakery, Chastity is on her way to the Ocean City Farmers Market at Gold Coast Mall, where she’ll be set up from 8 a.m.–12 p.m.! Tuesday isn’t normally our Ocean City day, but we love this market and are so grateful to have somewhere to bring everything we prepared.
Bennett Orchards will also be there with their usual Ocean City supply plus an abundance of beautiful peaches originally harvested for Rehoboth! 🍑

I will be meeting in Milton at Food Lion Parking lot at 3pm for pre orders. The menu and information is 1 post below.

If you are able, please come out today—not only for us, but for all the farmers, bakers, makers, and small businesses trying to recover from this unexpected loss. Every purchase truly matters today.

Well… I just found out that tomorrow’s market at Rehoboth Beach has been canceled. I am so sorry to anyone who is inconvenienced by this! 💙

Unfortunately, I had already made all of the pastries and it is a huge amount. I just got done packing it all up when I got the news. That is 14 very full bins of pastries.

The good news Chastity will be at the Ocean City Farmers Market tomorrow—and we truly need your support!

Please come see Chastity, stock up on your favorites, and maybe grab a few extras to share or freeze. We really need you to show up and help us find homes for all these delicious treats! Every purchase will mean so much to us. 🌺
