Well… this week has been SO strange!

From a cold front stalled out over us at the beginning of the week to this crazy nor’easter that just keeps growing!

I’m glad to see Lewes Farmers Market made the decision to cancel tomorrow. I’m sad for all of us vendors and our guests, but safety comes first — and next week is looking beautiful!

BUT you can still catch Kahiau’s tomorrow — INSIDE, WARM & DRY!

So many of my incredibly talented vendor friends will be there, and this is the perfect rainy-day excuse to come out, shop small, support local and grab some delicious food while you’re at it!

🌧️ WEEKEND WEATHER UPDATE! 🌧️

Well… Mother Nature has shifted things on us again! The forecast for this weekend is now looking like a whole lot of rain, and with the wind already causing issues, tents will not be used at the Lewes Farmers Market. The market has been moved to the school parking lot, but unfortunately Kahiau’s Bakery will NOT be attending Lewes Farmers Market this Saturday. 😢
I am so sorry! We were REALLY stocked up and ready for SOUP DAY too.

But here’s the GOOD NEWS… you can still come see me Saturday — and we’ll be INSIDE, warm and dry! We have to make the best of a rainy situation!

And because we were completely stocked up for Soup Day, we are bringing the SOUP with us! 🥣

We’ll have our cozy fall soups along with plenty of pastries and all the goodies we had planned for the weekend. So come hungry and maybe bring a bag… or two.

🌺 ALOHA BOX — LAST CALL! 🌺

We are officially down to our last few spots for the very first Kahiau’s Bakery Aloha Box!

I am SO excited about the response to this little idea of mine and even more excited to start creating these boxes for our Founding Members!

If you’ve been thinking about joining us, this is your last call!

🌺 The Aloha Box is a 3-month commitment for October, November & December
🌺 Regular Box — $45/month
🌺 Gluten-Free Box — $50/month
🌺 Each month will be filled with a special selection of Kahiau’s pastries
🌺 Some items will be exclusive to the Aloha Box and won’t be available at our farmers markets
🌺 Membership is limited — and we only have a few spaces left!

SUNDAY is the LAST DAY to send me your information to become a Founding Member. After Sunday, I’m closing enrollment so I can start preparing for our first October boxes!
And just a little reminder — this isn’t about getting a discount box. It’s about getting a little Kahiau’s surprise every month, trying pastries you may not normally choose at the market, and getting access to some goodies I’m making especially for our Aloha Box members.

YESSSSSS! IT IS FINALLY FALL!

And you know what that means… we have officially moved on to pumpkins, apples, warm spices and… SOUPS!

Saturday is SOUP DAY at the Lewes Farmers Market and Maria will be slinging the pastries AND the soups from 8am–12pm!

🥣 CORN CHOWDER — GF
Because apparently I’ve been hoarding corn all summer for this exact moment. 😂🌽 Made with almost all local veggies, creamy, hearty and gluten free.

🎃 PUMPKIN CHILI — GF
The FIRST of the season!! I found the most beautiful New York Cheese Wheel pumpkins from Dittmar Family Farms and I was SO excited. These are my absolute favorite pumpkins for making fresh pumpkin purée, and this chili is DIVINE.

🥬 ITALIAN SAUSAGE, LENTIL & KALE SOUP
Packed with local veggies and beautiful local kale. Fall comfort food has officially arrived!

You know how much I believe in supporting local, but there are some things you just don’t mess with. These bars need the REAL Okinawa sweet potatoes straight from the Big Island of Hawai‘i. These are always a favorite and they will NOT last long!

Hello Community 👋🏼

As many of you know life can come at you very fast. Our friends over at Delaware Bay Clay are going through it as we speak. Aaron half of the Dynamic Duo that makes up Delaware Bay Clay (Lisa being the other) suffered a major health setback and will begin the daunting task of therapy and rehabilitation to get back on his feet.

This Tuesday (9/15/26) we’ll be donating 100% of our gross sales at The Rehoboth Beach Farmers' Market to help Aaron and Lisa manage some of their overwhelming medical bills.

The Artisan/Farmer community is a tight knit group. We mingle in and out of the same circles, setting up shop at Farmers Markets, Craft Shows and Festivals. Other Vendors become like coworkers in an office, sometimes even closer like an extended family.

So if you need any artisan jam or jelly, stop by this Tuesday (9/15/26 10a-2p) knowing that your purchase will help someone in need.

Aloha Thursday! 🌺

Do you know why this cake pictured is so special?

First, it was a birthday cake ordered by a husband for his wife — which is already pretty special. ❤️ And it was Chocolate Stout Cake, which is pretty delicious all on its own. 🍫🎂

But here’s the part that really got me…

This man drove all the way from Virginia Beach to pick up a cake made by me.

I met him in Berlin, but his drive was about 2½ hours ONE WAY. That’s a FIVE-HOUR round trip… for a cake from Kahiau’s.

There are several places in Virginia Beach where he could have ordered a vegan cake.

But he chose me.

And I’m not going to lie — that makes my heart so incredibly happy. It also makes me stop and realize the impact this little bakery has had over the years. People remember. They come back. And sometimes, apparently, they drive five hours! ❤️

Later, he sent me a picture and told me that she was surprised and very happy.

And THAT right there is why I do what I do.
Every single thing I make, I make with intention and love. Whether it’s a birthday cake, a croissant, a scone or something you grab from me at a farmers market, I genuinely love knowing that something I made became a small part of someone’s day, celebration or memory.

It truly makes me happy to make other people happy.

And to her husband — thank you for making that five-hour drive and choosing Kahiau’s Bakery. You have no idea how much that meant to me. 🌺🤙
