So… apparently Book 1 is being redone.
Yes. Again.
Before anybody starts yelling, “Alecia, didn’t Michael already write that book?” — yes, he did. And then the man sat with it, cried over it, stared at old memories like they owed him money, and realized the story needed more heart. More truth. More of the broken pieces he tried to write around instead of writing through.
So now Unbroken Promises: The Promise Behind Alecia’s Kitchen is being revised.
And this time, it is going deeper.
This book is not just about a diner. It is not just about a promise. It is not just about Michael meeting Jessica, losing her, finding his way back to Alecia, and building a life from the ashes.
It is about what broke him before any of that ever happened.
It is about Houston. Summer of 1990. A little boy on a playground with a little girl named Alecia who became his best friend before life knew how to be cruel. It is about divorce. Losing home. Losing people. Losing the kind of love you do not even understand yet because you are too young to know it matters.
And then, years later, it is about Paintsville. May 2014. Jessica. A promise. A relationship that went too fast because Michael was trying to hold onto something before it disappeared again.
And then it is about me.
Because apparently, when Michael’s life falls apart, I walk back in like, “Congratulations, emotionally damaged man. I brought sarcasm, coffee, and a lifetime commitment you did not know you needed.”
This revised version is going to hurt more.
It is going to explain more.
It is going to show why Alecia’s Kitchen was never just a restaurant. It was a second chance. A promise rebuilt. A family made from broken memories, lost childhood, love, pain, and the kind of stubborn hope that refuses to die even when life keeps swinging a frying pan at your head.
So yes, Book 1 is being redone.
Not because the story was wrong.
Because now Michael is finally brave enough to tell the part that still makes him cry.
Coming soon.
Unbroken Promises: The Promise Behind Alecia’s Kitchen
Being revised with more emotion, more truth, and unfortunately, probably more of me keeping Michael from emotionally face-planting into the biscuit dough.
You’re welcome.
