I’d like to set a few things straight.
I listed the Wooden Nickel with a commercial broker who specializes in restaurant sales, and has been in the business for approximately fifty years. We used his suggested price point based on return on investment, renovations that were made, and current valuation.
There seems to be a misunderstanding as to what I paid before all this started. There are two separate transactions: the purchase of the property, and the purchase of the business. There are also closing costs, transfer taxes in and out, real estate fees, etc.
With all that said, I like signature properties, and I like the people of Millersburg, who’ve been very good to us.
I have no intention of leaving the building sit vacant. We currently have several offers that we’re in negotiation with. But my overall plan is kind of what my plan was at the very start: dinner theatre in the Spectrum Room with a bit more of a fine dining menu and a mix of casual fare.
However, over the year that I’ve been there, I’ve discovered that Millersburg generally wants a breakfast lunch and dinner restaurant with home-style cooking. A prospective lessee would like to put in a diner and run a 6am to 8pm schedule. That would allow me to keep the alcohol license for the Spectrum and still hopefully take care of the needs of our community.
The Millersburg location is the furthest from my house and I just don’t have the time or the inclination to be on-site 6am to 8pm every day, so it’s better to let someone else tackle that challenge.
My dinner theatre will likely be a Friday and Saturday evening gig with different events scheduled in advance. On that note, this Saturday we will be fulfilling our promise for a private reunion that will be in from 12-3pm. After that, we’ll be opening to the public with a limited menu and b**r from 4-8pm.
Don’t hesitate to plan your special occasion with us, and keep an eye on our page as we schedule events including a murder mystery show, different genres of music, potentially a comedy night, etc. It doesn’t have to be every weekend, it just has to be fun when we do it.
I’d like to extend a big thank you to the folks from Bearded Lady Brewery for their kind post and to all the residents of Millersburg who have supported us in the past and will hopefully continue to support us.
Thanks again - Don Failor
