Today is School Lunch Hero Day!! With staff shortages and still needing to feed not only our middle school students we also make lunches for the elementaries. These ladies get it done every single day. I also want to give a shout out to the 3 ladies that come in at 5am BEFORE their shift at their school to help, we could not make it happen without you. I appreciate every single one of you.
A little history about this day : This day is inspired by children's author and illustrator, Jarrett Krosoczka. He created School Lunch Hero Day to honor the foodservice employees after returning to his old school,and finding his childhood Lunch lady still at the school and she remembered him.

Another home run lunch for the Muir students

Another Detroit Tiger Baseball lunch is done. Here we served all the baseball favorites hotdogs, nacho chips with cheese, popcorn, fruit slush cups. We served 220 lunches today. At the elementaries ( which we prepare and send out ) they had hotdogs, fruit slush cup and popcorn. The elementary students also received a baseball card with lunch.
The elementary lunch count was 1250. I think we hit a home run with these lunches.

Another Super Bowl Lunch was a touchdown! This year we did a play on subway and set our lunch line up as a sub/sandwich line. The students could pick their meat, cheese,veggie for their sub/sandwich and we made it fresh.
This was a big job, but despite being short handed the ladies and I ran this lunch to the end zone and scored. Special thanks to my hard working ladies today at lunch, Melinda, Pam , and Rebecca I couldn't have done this without you. Also, thank you to Ms.Brodie for stepping in to be our punter and helping.
