We were so fortunate to hear from
Sarah Adams and Kelley Blair
Two Spirit Aunties,
at our Love Revolution Conference.
They gifted us with stories and explanations about Indigenous cultures and their Two Spirit communities.
“Two spirit is an umbrella term. It’s used to reflect and restore indigenous traditions that were forcefully suppressed by means of colonization and historical trauma. Honoring the fluid, diverse nature of gender, attraction and its connection to the sense of community and spirituality. The term Two-Spirit is used by some indigenous people rather than or in addition to identifying as 2slgbtq+. Two Spirit is said to come from a dream. The term two spirit is an addition not a replacement of indigenous language that already has a word for gender and sexual orientation variance. “
