We are pleased to announce that we have purchased the Towne Tavern and Tap Restaurant in Wareham. We would first like to thank David, Tori and the entire Towne team for the wonderful work that they have done here. We look forward to watching their continued growth and prosperity in the future!

The new restaurant is called 12 Knots Classic American Grille. Recreational sailors often say that the ideal wind speed for traversing the Cape Cod waterways is “12 Knots”. A windspeed of 12 Knots means the sails are full, yet the waters can remain calm enough for all boaters to enjoy. These ideal conditions allow the craft to move efficiently and effortlessly across the water. Our goal is to provide the “ideal conditions” for our guests to have an enjoyable and memorable experience.

As with our flagship restaurant in Middleboro, you will find an eclectic mix of Classic American fare made in our scratch kitchen. Our menu and hand-crafted cocktails will all be served by a staff that is incredibly passionate about hospitality.

We purchased the Wareham location on July 2nd. We were committed to keeping the staff employed. We were also committed to hosting the functions that were booked at Towne. That gave us less than a week to open. We started our “soft” opening on July 7th and have been working hard to refine the operation over the past two weeks. We appreciate those who have joined us during this “soft” opening. The outside deck is finally open and we are very eager to welcome you. In lieu of a formal grand opening, we plan to host a ribbon-cutting and charity events after Labor Day.

As many of you know, the Dearing family has generational ties to Wareham. We have many fond memories of enjoying family meals at favorites like Lindsey’s, Charlie’s, Bailey’s, the old Vel’s, the old Zeady’s and The Narrows. More recently, we really enjoy dining at Mahoney on Main, Ella’s and the spectacular Cafe Soleil.

We hope that we can be a part of your family’s future memory-making. Our family is very eager to serve your family. We are thrilled to be in Wareham, and we are grateful to be the stewards of this wonderful restaurant.
