Its crazy to think that we are already in the last week of May and the weather is finally starting to show it!

I want to jump back in time just a bit and recognize our April Above and Beyond recipient, Abby Brush. Abby graduated from Sheridan High School in 2020. She grew up with her dad working in restaurants her whole life and at 14 years old, she followed in his footsteps and got her first job at Jan’s Village Pizza in Westfield where her dad worked. For those who may not know, Jan’s was right next door to my restaurant Keltie’s and so I have actually known Abby since she was a little girl! In college she worked at her school’s dining court, then went to work in a nursing home kitchen. After that she worked at 10 West with Chef Sarah. Last June she followed Chef Sarah here to Angry Donkey because she loves working under and learning from her. And man are we glad she decided to join our family. Abby is a hardworking, dedicated employee and does a great job as a sauté cook, she’s very deserving of the Above and Beyond award for April.

Last week I gave you all a sneak peek at a new and exciting venture that we are embarking on, drum roll please... we are partnering with The Walker Family to bring a new and exciting event venue to the area, Stoney Heights located in Frankfort. For those of you unfamilar with Stoney Heights, it is often referred to as “The Castle” in Frankfort. It is a 3 story, castle like house in the heart of Frankfort that has several different spaces that offer unlimited possibilities for hosting events from small weddings, business luncheons and dinners, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners and so much more. We will be the main point of contact for all aspects of the venue including booking, catering etc. My team has a lot of ideas in the works and will have more details coming but I couldn’t wait to share with you all!

This Memorial Day, all of us at Angry Donkey pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

We are deeply grateful for the sacrifices made by so many and for the families who carry those memories every day. Today is about more than a long weekend — it’s about reflection, gratitude, and honoring those who made our freedoms possible.

A couple of favorites are making this May menu one to remember at Angry Donkey!

Keltie’s Chimichanga has been turning heads with a crispy tortilla packed full of chorizo, pulled chicken, and refried beans, all finished with jalapeño cheese sauce and fresh cilantro. Served with Spanish rice and chili lime glazed asparagus, it’s the kind of special that checks every box.

And just in time for summer… the Watermelon Margarita is officially back on the seasonal drink menu. It was one of last summer’s most-loved cocktails for a reason — light, refreshing, and perfect for warmer evenings ahead.

May is flying by, so if these have been on your list to try, now’s the time.

Thursday nights at Angry Donkey mean one thing… Prime Rib Night.

Slow roasted, hand cut, and served until it’s gone. If you’ve been thinking about making plans for dinner, tonight’s a good night to do it. Reservations are always encouraged, or come early and grab a seat.

Not feeling prime rib? Our May specials have been getting rave reviews and there’s still a little time left to enjoy them before the month wraps up.

This month’s Chicken Chipotle Pasta special is bringing a little smoky heat and a whole lot of comfort to the table.

Bucatini pasta tossed in a smoky chipotle cream sauce with julienned bell peppers, roasted tomatoes, and tender pulled chicken — served with toast points to soak up every last bit of sauce.

We’re back — and overflowing with joy after celebrating my son’s wedding! It was a spectacular weekend filled with family, friends, and the kind of togetherness that reminds us why we love what we do.

And for the first time in a long time… I was actually a guest at my own event.

I cannot say enough about our team at Angry Donkey — they absolutely knocked it out of the park. From the food, to the service, to all the little details behind the scenes, they made the entire weekend feel effortless, and I got to truly enjoy every moment with my family. It was perfect.

There is so much coming up and so many exciting things happening around here. A lot of doors are opening around Angry Donkey right now — literally and figuratively — and one in particular is something we are incredibly excited about. 👀
