Our Story
Like thousands of Cuban families in the early 80’s, the Busquet family left the island on the Mariel Boatlift with the help of relatives already living in “el exilio”. They had nothing more than each other, and a fierce will to make their dreams a reality. In 1992, after years of sacrifice and hard work, they established the very first Polo Norte as a family-owned and operated ice cream parlor. However, in an incredible twist of fate, it was hit by Hurricane Andrew only three days after its opening. With an untiring determination and fresh ideas for the future, the Busquet family picked up where they left off, and reopened Polo Norte, this time expanding their menu by serving “Pizza Cubana” along with other homemade Cuban dishes.
Now, for more than 20 years, Polo Norte has served the people of South Florida as the go-to place for a truly authentic Cuban cuisine. Our delicious menu is centered around one philosophy: food should be simple, fresh, and authentic. We emphasize the use of fresh, natural ingredients to prepare quality food that delivers a flavorful experience to our customers. Our wide variety of delicious Cuban food such as our famous Cuban pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, entrees, and of course, desserts is sure to leave you coming back for more!
The Busquet family continues to own and operate Polo Norte as a family business and have maintained their strong principles, hard work ethic and genuine “Cuban” hospitality throughout each of their locations.
