Have you ever tried spicy red beans & rice? This (“jag”) is a delicious West African one pot meal…it’s aromatic, hearty and satiating. This is “jag” recipe is my Grammie’s- as a proud Black woman of Cape Verdean descent, I am thrilled to be able to celebrate the stories of women I love through food and to be able to include a family recipe that has been passed down generation after generation on our grown southern menu. I hope you enjoy every spoonful of spicy red rice and beans- as much as we enjoy serving it! Swipe left for a pic of my beloved Grandmother, Doris Ann Silva, in her kitchen, where she whipped up “jag” and tons of other homespun, delectable meals for her large family. 🇨🇻
