One of my favorite moments from Disco Soup.

Just a gaggle of Middlesex College culinary grads making soup for a community. I really appreciate having the opportunity to mentor culinary externs and watch the next generation of chefs find their footing. It’s one of those full circle moments that never gets old.

It was great sharing what we were up to with Mayor Jonathan M. Busch and introducing him to the team. Community, good food, and paying it forward.

Great food, even greater crew.

You’ve probably seen the recent headlines about a foodborne illness linked to fresh produce. Here’s my take.

This isn’t a reason to stop eating fruits and vegetables. It’s a reminder to be a little more mindful about where our food comes from and how we handle it.

The longer and more complex our food system becomes, the more opportunities there are for something to go wrong. That’s one of the reasons I choose local whenever I can. Smaller farms, shorter supply chains, and the ability to know your farmer are things I value. It doesn’t eliminate risk, but it does create more connection, transparency, and appreciation for the people growing our food.

If the grocery store is your main source of produce, that’s okay too. A few simple habits can help:
• Wash all fruits and vegetables under cool running water before eating or preparing them.
• Choose whole produce over pre cut options when possible.
• Cook vegetables when it makes sense, especially if you’re already planning to.
• Stay aware of produce recalls and food safety alerts.

The goal isn’t fear. It’s awareness.

Keep eating your veggies, and if you have the chance this weekend, hit up your local farmers market. You might just discover a new favorite farmer, vegetable, or conversation. šŸ§…

We’re celebrating nine years of Tiny Onion with a series of interviews featuring questions inspired by friends, clients, and people who know me well.

From lessons I’ve learned and advice I’d give my younger self to what keeps me excited after all these years, I’m sharing a little reflection on the first nine and a little hope for the next nine.

Stay tuned… there’s more to come. šŸ§…

Today marks 9 years since I took the leap into what I like to call the ocean of freedom and started building the Chef Lauren brand and the Tiny Onion.

Nine years later, I’m still just as grateful, still learning, still growing, and still doing work that fills my heart. Thank you to every client, friend, family member, collaborator, and supporter who has been part of this journey.

I truly wouldn’t be here without you.

Here’s to another year of getting just a little bit better… and eating your veggies. šŸ§…

June was beautifully busy.
I welcomed the first few days of July..and even that heat wave as a chance to ease into the month at a slower pace.

A little time outside, a little time in the kitchen, a few good workouts… exactly how I like it.

July has a few fun things stacked up!!
Stay tuned..

But first things first… Meal Prep Monday.
