Right now, the trails around Mercer are glowing 🍁
The color show is starting to peak, and it won’t last long!

We still have cottages open and each one has floor-to-ceiling windows that keep the view going long after you’ve parked the ATV. And no trailering needed — the Iron County ATV/UTV system connects right from our parking lot 😎

🎃 Pumpkin Run (Oct 8–11) is just around the corner and we’ve had a few late openings. Call or text us at 715-721-4700 and we'll see what we can do!

🐢 Flowage Fun Fact Friday 🌲

Did you know the forests surrounding the Turtle Flambeau Scenic Waters Area have changed dramatically over time?

Up until the early 1900s, towering white and red pines dominated the landscape. After logging and wildfires swept through the region, forests naturally shifted—making way for aspen and white birch to thrive. Today, the forest is a diverse mix of aspen, northern hardwoods, swamp conifers, and smaller pockets of pine. 🌳
Forest management in the area is carefully designed to protect the scenic beauty of the Turtle Flambeau Flowage. A 300-foot “aesthetic zone” surrounds the shoreline where no timber harvesting occurs, preserving those iconic Northwoods views.

Beyond that zone, selective and sustainable forestry practices help maintain wildlife habitat and forest health. Thoughtful regeneration—especially of aspen—supports species like grouse and deer, ensuring the Flowage remains not just beautiful, but full of life. 🦌✨
