Hey, Hoagie Lovers. ❤️

Our re-grand opening may be pushed back again, and honestly, I could cry. Rebuilding Chicago’s House of Hoagies has taken so much out of me. Between construction delays, broken promises, and trusting people to do what they say, I’m overwhelmed.

After speaking with a local commercial restaurant appliance owner and explaining what I needed, including my electrical setup, I purchased a flat top griddle. Now I’ve learned it doesn’t match the restaurant’s power supply.

For those wondering why we didn’t catch this sooner, when I bought it, we had it carried inside and placed on a stand. There was so much other work to get done that we didn’t unpack it right away. Tonight, while we were unboxing equipment and plugging things in, we discovered the mismatch.

I take accountability for not opening it and checking sooner. At the same time, I trusted that the person who sold it to me had matched the equipment to the needs and electrical setup I explained.

On top of that, my insurance payments stop after October 13, and I’m STILL fighting with my insurance company over what I believe are underpaid claims from this closure. I’m trying to recover, reopen, and fight for the money I’m owed all at the same time. The bills haven’t stopped, and the pressure makes me feel like I can’t catch my breath.

I’m trying to find an electrician at the last minute to see whether we can safely get everything working so we can still open Tuesday, October 13. If that isn’t possible, I’m hoping the seller will accept a return.

I’ve poured so much into getting these doors back open. I’m stressed, disappointed, and honestly, there are moments when I feel like walking away. Behind this business is a real person doing everything she can to keep going.

Tuesday is still my hope, but I can’t confirm it yet. If you know a licensed electrician who works with commercial restaurant equipment and has immediate availability, please send them my way.
