The Arcade has the honor of being Memphis' oldest restaurant. Speros Zepatos founded the diner in 1919 after immigrating from Cephalonia, Greece. Situated at the corner of South Main Street and G.E. Patterson, the original building was a small, one story, wood framed building. Food was actualy cooked on potbelly stoves! In 1925, Speros tore down the wood structure and built the Arcade Building in a Greek revival style, complete with retail stores to signify the "Arcade" name.

✨ Remembering Elvis at The Arcade ✨Louise Smith — wife of Elvis’s cousin Gene Smith — used to dine here in the early 1950s. She first met Elvis and Gene while working at a credit store just down South Main. They’d stop by to visit, and soon she was spending her lunch breaks right here, sharing stories and laughs over meals.

Louise later married Gene, and the two were so close to Elvis that he invited them to live at Graceland — where they stayed for six unforgettable years. 💛 Their bond was as genuine as family gets, and the memories they made together remain woven into the fabric of Memphis history.

This very table holds a special piece of Elvis history. Come soak in the history, enjoy a plate of Southern comfort!
