Holy cow. What a morning. Make sure you read til the end as well...
With rain in the forecast I had no intentions of shooting sunrise. But then I looked outside just before dawn and saw some light in the sky, and thought "that's weird". So I pulled up the cam of the city and saw a huge opening on the horizon, with rain on the way. Worth the chance to run into the city.
My first choice was the North Shore, but made a last minute decision to go to the West End, and did it ever turn out to be the right one. As rain descended on the city, the sun peeked through a small opening in the clouds, creating a breathtaking view.
Now, I've shot many, many sunrises over the years. I mean, I pretty much shoot 7 a week (because who wants to share old pictures again and again?). But this one is up there as a top 10. When the sun broke through the clouds and lit up the leaves, my jaw literally dropped. And wait until you see the view of the rain pouring on downtown lit up by the sun...that one will come later today.
But this one is a favorite from today for sure. Those leaves...my goodness. And the clouds lit up above the city couldn't have been more perfect.
Oh, and here's the best part...I forgot my camera. Well, I forgot ONE of my cameras. See, I always keep two cameras in my bag, my main camera, a Sony a1 and a backup, a Sony a7r3. Well, I took my a1 out yesterday to download the images, but never put it back in, and was in such a rush to leave, I left it in my office. Good thing I had a backup.
