Niko's on the Fox - McHenry, IL

03/09/2026

Hello McHenry! 👋

To all the loyal followers of this page — welcome! First and foremost, we want to thank Vicki for the years she dedicated to this restaurant and for building a place that so many in the community have enjoyed. We appreciate everything she has done here and wish her the very best.

We’re excited to introduce ourselves as the new owners and to announce that Niko’s on the Fox will be opening soon!

For those who may not know us yet, Niko’s Restaurant Group currently operates five locations across McHenry and Kane County, serving up great food, cold drinks, live music, and a welcoming neighborhood tavern atmosphere. Community has always been at the heart of what we do, and we’re thrilled to bring that same energy right here to McHenry.

Over the coming weeks/months we’ll be sharing updates as we get the space ready, introduce the menu, and prepare for reopening. We can’t wait to welcome both familiar faces and new friends through the doors.

Stay tuned for updates — we’re looking forward to seeing you all soon at Niko’s on the Fox! 🍻

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who stopped in for our last weekend to wish us well and say goodbye. There were so many memories shared, great conversations, laughs and a few tears shed. I appreciated all of it. We are staying local and may run into you while we are out and about. If you see me, please feel free to stop me and say "Hi". I'm really going to miss you and this restaurant. It's been a wonderful 40 years. Thank you!

It is with mixed emotion that I am making this post. After 40 years serving this community, I will be retiring at the at the end of this year. Sunday, December 28th will be our last day open. The restaurant has been sold and will reopen in the spring with new ownership.
I’d like to think everyone for all the memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. This restaurant has been my life for a long time but now it’s time to start a new chapter. I’m not sure what the future holds but I am looking forward to it. I will miss this place and all of you so much. I have been blessed to have met so many wonderful people throughout the years. Thank you for all the wonderful chats along the way.
To all my customers, current employees, past employees, venders and sales people, I thank you for everything you did to make us successful for such a long time.
With sincere gratitude,
Vickie
