What Cinco de Mayo Really Means in Mexico 🇲🇽

Cinco de Mayo isn’t Mexico’s Independence Day (that’s September 16th) — it actually marks the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla.

On May 5, 1862, a smaller, under-equipped Mexican army defeated the powerful French forces in Puebla. It was a symbolic victory that showed resilience, pride, and the strength of the Mexican people.

Cinco de Mayo is not a huge nationwide party like many people think. It’s mainly celebrated in the state of Puebla, where the battle took place.

In the rest of Mexico, it’s a relatively low-key day — most people go about their normal routines, maybe with small local celebrations.

Cinco de Mayo is actually celebrated more in the United States, where it’s become a broader celebration of Mexican culture, food, and heritage.

Cinco de Mayo is about resilience, unity, and national pride — not just tacos and tequila, but hey, at Pueblo Lindo, we don’t need an excuse to party 🎉

Cinco de Mayo is soon 🎉 Come celebrate with us at Pueblo Lindo 🇲🇽 We have some specials to offer you 🍹 🌮
