I always thought I was gonna go to law school. I have a bachelor’s degree in political science, I worked for Congressman Vicente Gonzalez in Washington DC, I even took the LSAT.
I didn’t get a good enough score on my LSAT to get scholarships so I thought it would be easy to start a business and make lots of money quickly to pay my way through law school.
In 2017 I created Provenza Cattle Company LLC in order to sell beef and start my journey to making millions selling beef from my parents farm. You could find me or my beloved friends who would help me at all the farmers markets around the valley. Three markets per day, 3 days a week.
That did not go well at all. I didn’t make money I didn’t have any savings I was not running a good business. In order to fix the business I did an MBA over at utrgv and I revolved all my assignments over Provenza Cattle Company. One day a professor called me into his office hours and wanted to learn more about my project in order to help me out. I told him how much I was making how much I was spending and how much of my time went into selling beef. He told me I wasn’t running a business he told me I was supporting my hobby.
Soon after that conversation in 2019, I sought out a food truck but I had no idea what I was doing or what I was getting myself into. I remember hiding behind the truck and sitting on a chair waiting for time to pass while my friends helped serve food from this tiny little black and white food truck with fake grass at the food truck park.
7 years later we’re still selling the same beef I would sell at farmers markets. 7 years later I’m still that super crazy, super ambitious, super impulsive Diego that jumped into the unknown. This business made me grow up into someone who I am so proud of. I am so grateful for everyone who I have met along the way.
I know for sure god wanted me to sell burgers instead of practicing law but I’m still trying to figure out why and I love the journey I’m on. I wouldn’t change any any any of it for anything in the world.
