Well… apparently “maybe” worked. 😂

Today’s official status was somewhere between open and closed, and a surprising number of you decided to take a chance on it anyway.

I was only there for about 4½ hours, but we had a great little turnout! Thank you to everyone who saw the post, spotted the burb, took a chance, and stopped by for a cold treat.

I was able to get some things checked off my to-do list, get some Halloween decorating done, and spend the day visiting with some of my favorite people.

Small businesses don’t take days like that for granted. Every visit, every purchase, every share, and every bit of support means more than you know.

So thank you for making our “Are we open? Are we closed? The answer is maybe.” Labor Day experiment a success. ❤️

I appreciate each and every one of you!

Normally, Mondays are my day off.

And normally, even with the lights off, no OPEN sign, the doors locked, and our hours posted on both sets of doors, somebody still gives the door handle a little test jiggle just to make sure. 😂

So today, I’m not exactly saying we’re open… but I’m also not exactly saying we’re closed.

I’ll be around for a little while today, and if you happen to see the burb parked outside, feel free to stop in and grab yourself a cold treat!

While you’re here, be sure to check out This ‘n That. She’ll be open from 10:00–3:00 and has added some new items and rearranged the shop to make it even easier to browse.

Happy Labor Day, and enjoy the extra day off!

Well, we’re locking it up for the night guys. We have lost power. You all be safe out there and I will see you tomorrow from 1 to 6.

Every now and then a customer orders something that makes me stop and say, “Wait… what?” 🧐

Today’s request was an Orange Coffee Float.

He asked for hot coffee, orange soda, vanilla ice cream, and ice.

I’m not going to lie—I looked at him like he had ten heads.

Then I repeated the order back to him. More than once.

“So… coffee? Orange soda? Ice cream? Together?”

Apparently, it’s a real drink that’s served in cafés around the world, and he has ordered it before.

We made it, handed it over, and before he could leave I told him, “You need to taste that before you walk out the door. If it’s not right, we’re fixing it.”

Because nobody leaves here with something they don’t like.

One sip later, he was grinning and said it tasted almost exactly like the ones he’s had before.

One of the things we enjoy most is helping customers create something that’s not always on the menu. If we have the ingredients, we’re happy to give it a try.

So now I’m curious…

Would you try coffee, orange soda, and vanilla ice cream together? ☕🍊🍦

I may have done a little shopping without leaving the store. 😂

Icey Bites just stocked us up with freeze-dried candy, fruit, and ice cream, plus some simmer pots that smell amazing.

Stop by and check out all the new goodies! 🍦🍓✨

🎒❤️ THANK YOU, MAYSVILLE! ❤️🎒

Our 5th Annual Back to School Event is officially in the books, and what an incredible day it was!

We spent the week watching the weather and crossing our fingers, and thankfully the rain held off long enough for us to enjoy an afternoon filled with smiles, laughter, and community. ☀️

From backpacks and school supplies to free food, snow cones, popcorn, clothes, shoes, haircuts, face painting, the gaming truck, bounce house, health resources, our selfie station, line dancing, vendors, volunteers, and so much more—there was truly something for everyone.

Most importantly, we were able to help local children and families get ready for a successful school year, and that’s what this event is all about. ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who donated supplies, sponsored activities, volunteered their time, set up as a vendor, provided services, shared our posts, and came out to support the event. It takes a village to pull off something like this, and we are blessed to be part of such a generous and supportive community.

A special thank you to Melissa Murphy Ministries and Precious Hands Childcare. For the past five years, the three of us have worked together to organize, plan, coordinate, and grow this event for our community. This isn’t one person’s event—it’s a true collaboration, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to work together to serve local families each year. ❤️

It was definitely a warm day 🥵, but seeing the kids leave with backpacks, supplies, smiles, and excitement for the new school year made every minute worth it.

Thank you for helping make our 5th Annual Back to School Event a success. We appreciate each and every one of you and can’t wait to see what next year brings! 🎒📚✏️❤️

This is a post I never thought I would have to make.

Over the past few days, we’ve noticed some items missing from both our children’s play area and from Mary’s boutique, This ’n That, located inside the ice cream shop.

A few pieces of jewelry have gone missing, and empty jewelry bags were found. We’ve also noticed that some pieces from the kids’ wooden ice cream play set have disappeared.

Now, we understand that accidents happen. A child may unknowingly walk out carrying a toy, or someone may try on a piece of jewelry and forget they’re wearing it. If that’s what happened, there is absolutely no judgment. We would simply appreciate having the items returned.

What makes this difficult is that Mary and I have always tried to create a welcoming, relaxed environment. We don’t want customers to feel watched or followed around while they shop. We want kids to enjoy the play area while families enjoy their ice cream. We want people to browse, visit, and feel at home.

We are two very small businesses in a very small town. We do our best to help people whenever we can, whether that’s working with someone’s budget, donating to community causes, or simply extending a little grace when needed.

So we’re asking for that same kindness and respect in return.

If you accidentally took something, please bring it back. No questions asked. We just want to keep these spaces available and enjoyable for everyone.

Thank you for continuing to support local businesses and for helping us keep our little corner of town welcoming for all. 🩷

A couple of new additions have made their way into the shop! 💗

First, we added a cozy little seating 🪑 area near the main entrance. My husband insisted nobody would ever sit there… and less than 10 minutes after I finished putting the chairs together, two girls walked in and immediately sat down. 😂 So I guess we can call that debate settled.

We also finally finished our travel map wall! The map itself has been up for a few weeks, and we’ve already had several visitors add pins from where they’re visiting from. Now that the lettering is up, everyone can finally see what it’s all about.

If you’re visiting from out of state or out of the country—or if you have family and friends visiting—stop by and add a pin to show us where your sweet journey began. 🌎📍

We already have pins from several states and even a few from outside the U.S., and we’d love to see that map keep growing!

🍦 Where’s the farthest place you’ve traveled from to visit us?

Today, Wednesday, August 26, we will be closed as I spend the day helping with setup and participating in the Remember Everyone Deployed candlelight vigil honoring the 13 service members lost in the Abbey Gate attack.

Supporting our community and causes that are close to my heart has always been important to me, and this is one event I’m honored to be a small part of each year.

If you’re local, I encourage you to join us at Lejeune Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville from 7:00–9:00 PM as we remember the fallen, support their families, and ensure their sacrifice is never forgotten.

Thank you for your understanding, and we’ll be back to scooping smiles on Thursday. ❤️🕯️
