When your daughter has a hair appointment in downtown Stevens Point and you need to kill some time, you have some good lunch options. Today I chose Guu's On Main. The buffaque boneless wings never disappoint.

Summerfest 2026 did not disappoint. The weather held out just long enough, too. Good music and good food. Saz's BBQ is my go-to (not pictured - fail). After a week of trains, busses, Uber rides, shuttles, and 3 hotels, I'm ready to head home tomorrow morning.

Brewery 22 for the year is Sprecher Brewery in Glendale. It's been 10+ years since I was here last, but I have to say I remember the taproom area being a lot nicer. They're only using the front portion of the bar now, and there are temporary curtains blocking the view of some areas. It's a bit of a mess. The food was not a mess, however. It was fantastic. The Bavarian pretzel (pictured) should come with a warning for its size. It is massive! The nachos were loaded with toppings and were outstanding. I tried 6 new beers, with Acapulco Mexican Golden Ale being my favorite today. I didn't have the Special Amber today because its regularly in my fridge at home, but that is a top notch offering that I highly recommend. In addition to beer, Sprecher also makes craft sodas that are available around the state and also in the taproom.

Saw the Miz pitch live for the first time today. He didn't have his best stuff and the Brewers bats didn't help him. The Crew lost 7-2.

After a day at Neshotah Park Beach (one of Wisconsin's finest beaches), the 21st brewery stop for 2026 was Cool City Brewing Company in downtown Two Rivers, Wisconsin. This brewery is unique on multiple levels. First, it opens at 6:30 a.m. to serve its own coffee. It even has a drive thru. Second, you can get just about anything in a flight. Think beers, cocktails, coffee, and food (cheese curds, tacos, sliders, etc) - flights of beer, curds, and tacos are pictured. Third, several of their beers are sponsored by local businesses. It's a unique way to fund the brewing process and to promote local businesses. The business's name is displayed on the tank (pictured) and is incorporated into the name of the beer. This brewery opened in 2022 and everything still feels very new. The service was great, and I'll be back next time I find my way to Two Rivers.

After doing most of the touristy stuff in Chicago - Navy Pier, Millennium Park (the Bean, etc?), Willis Tower, shopping the Magnificent Mile, etc, the last stop before taking the train to Schaumburg was Crushed By Giants Brewing Co. on Michigan Avenue. It desperately needs better signage since it shares an address with a Chicago souvenir shop, but in order to get to it, you go around the corner (almost a full block off Michigan Ave) and upstairs. The souvenir shop has clearly been asked many times, as she was not enthused to answer my question. 😆 Once upstairs, the beers proved to be just ok, but the pictured flight of house beers helped me hit a milestone for unique check-ins on Untappd. The hazy IPA - Neon Werewolf was my first and my favorite today. The pulled pork nachos were disappointing. Everything on top was very good, but the chips (an important component of nachos, last I checked) were hard/stale.
Next stop on Wednesday: The beautiful city of Two Rivers, WI.

We're taking Wisco Happy Hour south of the border to Illinois for a few days. Does that make it temporarily a FIB Happy Hour? 😆 First stop: Granite City Food & Brewery in Schaumburg, IL. The atmosphere is cool and the food is great, even if the beers are just ok. I tried 6 in all, including 5 that I had never had. Ukulele Citra IPA was probably my favorite new one today, although their Shandy is also outstanding. On to the windy city and the heat Monday and Tuesday before returning to the good (Wisconsin) side of the border for the rest of the week!
