I would like to compile a list
VOLUME-BASED FOOD CHALLENGES — BEAT THE LAST GUY, NOT THE CLOCK
1. ACME OYSTER HOUSE — New Orleans, LA (plus Gulf Coast locations)
15 Dozen Club. Eat 180 oysters, get em half off. BEAT THE HOUSE RECORD and they're free. Standing record: 44 dozen — 528 oysters — set by Pat Bertoletti in 2015.
2. WARD'S HOUSE OF PRIME — Milwaukee, WI
Prime rib, one sitting, NO time limit at all. 40oz gets you on the Wall of Fame, and they rank you in 8oz increments from there. Finish 216oz and the meal is free. Record: 360oz — 22.5 lbs — Molly Schuyler.
3. MORRETTE'S KING STEAKHOUSE — Schenectady, NY
Eat as many king-size ribeye sandwiches as you can in one sitting. 2 gets you on the wall, 3 gets a shirt, 4 gets a free sandwich, 5 gets a gift card. Record is 5.
4. NEWEST LUNCH — Schenectady, NY
Hot Dog Record Challenge. There's no set number — you just have to beat whatever the standing record is. It was 20 dogs with chili and onions.
5. POBLANO'S MEXICAN GRILL — Clearwater & Bradenton, FL
20 tacos to win, but they post a public leaderboard and guys keep chasing each other up it. 27, then 30, then 31.
6. DENNY'S B**R BARREL PUB — Clearfield, PA
"World's Largest Burger Challenges." A whole ladder: 2 lb, 3 lb, 6 lb solo, then 15 lb and 25 lb for teams. Every time somebody conquered one, they built a bigger one.
7. CLINTON STATION DINER — Clinton, NJ
The full staircase: Achilles 1 lb, Hercules 2 lb, Atlas 3 lb, Zeus 7 lb, Mt. Olympus 25 lbs of beef, and the 8th Wonder at 50 lbs of beef / 105 lbs total. You pick your rung.
8. SHULA'S STEAK HOUSE — Orlando, FL
The 48 oz Club. Finish the 48-ounce porterhouse in one sitting and your name goes in the book.
9. THE BIG TEXAN — Amarillo, TX
Everybody knows the 72 oz. But they also track the most 72 oz DINNERS eaten in one sitting — that record only moves when somebody out-eats the last holder.
10. HUMPY'S GREAT ALASKAN ALEHOUSE — Anchorage, AK
Kodiak Arrest. Finishing gets you a shirt and the wall. Beating the standing record gets it FREE. Record sits at 12 minutes and change.
BONUS — THE ARMS RACE IS REAL:
When a woman finally conquered Denny's 6 lb burger in PA, Clinton Station Diner in NJ came out with a 12.5 lb Zeus a month later. Denny's answered with a 15 lb Belly Buster. That's how this works.
